STEM in Room 4

On Wednesday P7 STEM leaders came to visit room 4.  We learned all about the emotion work cogs and our senses and had brilliant fun using our senses to guess what was in the mystery boxes.

JC – I quite like the pictures.

BS – We coloured in the cogs.

HL – They put shave cream inside.

LH – They gived out sweeties as prizes.

HM – They gave out surprises.

AM – They put rice in it.

SM – They put glitter in it.

CL – We put our hands in  boxes.

SG – They let us feel pipe cleaners.

All the boys and girls loved guessing what was in the mystery boxes!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

                     Blog post

This week we have been doing maths assessments. Miss Tighe was very proud of all our work.We still need some practice time with missing numbers but we will get there eventually.Miss Tighe created a subtraction poster to help us with our missing numbers. We have only been doing it for one day and it looks like it’s helping us.

As most of use know we had are christmas concert that took place on thursday. We also had our christmas lunch on thursday. We have worked very hard to earn sprinkles for our donut party.(if you don’t know what the sprinkle means it means if we were working hard together as a team we would add a sprinkle and if we coloured all the sprinkles in we would get a donut party and that also took place on thursday)

We have been doing digital literacy by looking at the John Lewis advert combined with kevin the carrot. For the kevin and the carrot lesson we did a venn diagram to compare it with charlie and the chocolate factory. For the John Lewis advert we had to summarise the main parts of the advert.

Christmas Concert

We are all feeling very tired today, after our Christmas Concert performance yesterday. It was great to see so many friends and family members in the audience and we loved seeing everyone as we came out on stage. We hope you enjoyed our performance, including the jokes that were hand picked!

Now we look forward to next week and our Christmas party on Tuesday.

Our Week in Room 16 11.12.23

We have had such a festive week in Room 16 and the school as a whole!

We have enjoyed our Christmas lunches and finally presented our Christmas Concert for parents and families to see all the preparations and hard work the children have put into putting on an all singing all dancing show.

For learning this week, we are continuing with times tables for numeracy, but with a Christmas twist of course by creating Christmas mosaics through matching times tables sums to a colour code.

For literacy we have tried to entice our missing elf to return to us! We have focused on persuasive writing in the hopes that the elf will return from the North Pole for a couple more visit’s before the Christmas break.

We have also challenged ourselves this week by creating and answering addition, subtraction, and multiplication multi step problems in French. The children have enjoyed using their language skills and numeracy skills in a new learning approach.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the countdown to Christmas over the next week.

Our Week in Room 21

December 15, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

It’s been another jam-packed week in room 21!

We’ve been making good headway with our model Spitfires and Lancaster bombers. We’ve created the main shapes of our aircraft using junk modelling materials, coated the models with paper mache and have been able to put the first coat of paint on. We’ll do the second coat and add all the finishing touches to them early next week.

After lots and lots of practising, we were able to perform our Christmas concert songs to our families. We had great fun and hope everyone now has the Christmas Duck Song stuck in their heads!

We’re now looking forward to our Christmas party on Monday! 🎅🏼🎄

Room 13

Ho Ho Ho!

It has been a very busy week across the school and Room 13 has been no exception!
First of all I would like to again say a massive WELL DONE to the boys and girls for their superb Christmas Performance on Wednesday afternoon. They certainly did all of their families proud.
Christmas has also managed to weave its way into our learning recently:
For our “Christmas Around the World” topic, the children have loved learning about how other countries celebrate the season. Here are our favourite 5 facts:
  • In Hawaii, Santa comes by boat and wears a Hawaiian shirt and shorts!
  • In the Philippines, people start playing Christmas as early as September.
  • In Spain, children put carrots and straw in their shoes and leave them outside for Santa’s reindeer.
  • In Brazil, people will leave out a sock by their window and ‘Papa Noel’ will swap it for a gift!
  • In Italy, a good witch called ‘La Befana’ is known to fly around on her broom and leave gifts for children on the 6th of January.
In P.E. we have enjoyed practising our social dances in preparation for our party on Thursday 21st. We have learned the Canadian Barn Dance, Military 2 Step, St Bernard’s Waltz, Virginia Reel and even the Gay Gordons.
In  literacy we have been learning about Acrostic Poetry and we had a go at creating our own acrostic poems about Christmas. Steven and Bailey have been kind enough to share theirs:

Room 8 and The Grinch

Wow…

What a show today! I am beyond proud of all the boys and girls and their efforts at today’s Grinchmas performance. We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we all enjoyed doing it.
It was nice for the boys and girls from room 10 to join us and our Grinch, Isla from primary 7. She was fab!
We hope you enjoy our pictures from the last few weeks in room 8.
