With our topic being Australia, we created some Aboriginal art. We used stencils to draw round animals like a kangaroo, emu, snake, turtle or platypus. Then we used the end of our paintbrushes to dot around our animal to create bold art. We think they turned out great!

Some of our other art this week was creating habitat displays. We used a massive piece of paper and everybody had to draw or make their own animals in their Australian habitat. These habitats were the Great Barrier Reef, the Outback, grasslands and rainforests. We could use anything we liked to create the displays, so long as we worked well together to create them.

We’ve been doing discursive writing and the discussions in class have been interesting because everything thinks different things. This week we had two questions to choose from to write about:

  • Should you be allowed to reserve sun loungers on holiday?
  • Should children be made to do chores around the house?

Most of us chose to write about the sun loungers! We all had very different opinions on this but around half of us agreed you should be able to reserve them, and the other half thought you shouldn’t!

Today we’ll be rounding off a great week with the sponsored fun run at 10:00! We can’t wait!

Australia Topic – For our topic we were researching animals from different Australian habitats like grass. We had to choose an animal and note down facts about them, and then research what type of landscape is found in that habitat. We’ll be drawing these animals and adding them to a big display outside our class that will show all the different habitats.

First Aid – This week, we rotated round 4 different stations that taught us about burns and scalds. Station 1: Adding instructions to our first aid booklets. Station 2: Using cold water to treat a burn or scald. Station 3: How to dress a burn. Station 4: ‘Spot the Burns Hazard’ task.

Maths – We started our information handling learning by watching a timelapse video of the most popular websites from 1993 – 2025. We had to compare the difference between the number of users a website started with, and the number it ended with in 2025. Some of the websites had something like 74 BILLION users in 2025!

Writing – We continued our discursive writing this week by choosing one of these 2 questions to write about: Should the school summer holidays be shortened? or Should zoos be closed? We had to think about arguments for and against each subject and link it with evidence, statistics and quotes we were given. We’ll be writing in this way again next week with two different questions to choose from.
