This week in Primary 1 has been full of exciting learning and lots of opportunities to build confidence across different curricular areas.
In Literacy, we have been focusing on the “ch” sound. The children have been practising recognising this sound at the beginning and within words, as well as trying to use it in their own reading and writing. We explored a variety of fun activities to help reinforce this, including word matching, sounding out simple words and sharing words that feature the “ch” sound. It’s been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident in identifying and using this new sound.
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of numbers up to 20. The children have been working on number recognition, ordering numbers and developing their counting skills. We’ve also been using practical resources and games to support their learning.
In P.E., we have been busy preparing for Sports Day. The children have been practising a variety of races, focusing on developing their coordination and speed. They have shown great enthusiasm and determination while getting ready for the different events and we are looking forward to seeing them take part with confidence and excitement.
I hope you have a lovely long weekend!
