Room 9 Science Centre Trip

Room 9 had a fantastic trip to the Science Centre this week. We have to say a big thank you to our parent helpers who gave up their time to come and help the class. Mr Allen was very proud of our behaviour.

When we arrived we went straight to the Planetarium. Most of the class thought that this was the best activity of the day.  When the show started the room got very dark but Mr Allen had us prepared because we knew that our eyes would adjust after a minute and he was right. It was amazing seeing all the stars in the sky. We found out about different constellations and we now know how to find the North Star in the sky.  Lindsay, who was our guide, demonstrated why we have the seasons, why we have day and night and why there is 24 hours and 365 days. For the final part we got to see all the different orbits of the planets in our solar system.

After the Planetarium we had our lunch in Clyde Suite and Mr Allen was so happy with us because we put all our rubbish in the bin and tidied up all of our mess on the floor. In the afternoon we went round the rest of the Science centre. We managed to see almost everything and it was all so much fun.

One exciting extra was getting to see the Waverly docked beside the Science Centre. Unfortunately they are still getting it ready for the summer season so we could not get very close to the ship. We did managed to take a photograph of us all in front of the Waverley.

It was a great trip but we were all very tired at the end of the day.
