Numbers to 100

Over the past week, Room 6 have been reinforcing their number knowledge to 20 and have now moved on to working with bigger numbers, all the way to 100. Firstly, we focussed on our number recognition, using counting skills to identify numbers on a hundred square. Once we felt comfortable with finding these numbers, we moved on to identifying numbers before, after and between. We had fun using the ‘Paint the Square’ online resource to practise these skills. To complete our learning last week, we worked on sequencing from a given number.

This week, we have moved on to looking at using the words ‘more’ and ‘less’ when speaking about numbers to 100. We have used this vocabulary to find numbers that come 2 before and 2 after a given number and will continue to develop this skill. We are now focussing on counting in 1s and 10s and are excited to learn some new counting songs at the end of the week to support our learning.

On Friday, we worked in pairs to practise our sequencing and number recognition on the iPads. We had so much fun reinforcing our learning using game-based platforms.
