Glasgow Schools Celebrated at CREATE Distinguished Schools Award Ceremony
Schools from across Glasgow came together on Thursday 4th June to celebrate their achievements at the inaugural CREATE Distinguished Schools Award Ceremony.
The CREATE Distinguished Schools Award recognises schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to creativity, culture and expressive arts, while promoting inclusion, learner voice, partnership working and high-quality creative experiences for children and young people.
This year, 24 primary schools successfully achieved the Bronze CREATE Distinguished Schools Award, reflecting the significant impact of creativity and expressive arts across the city. Throughout the award journey, more than 5,576 children and young people participated in CREATE experiences, while over 60 members of staff engaged in professional learning opportunities to further develop creativity within their schools.
The ceremony brought together pupils, school staff, senior leaders and partners from across education and culture to celebrate the achievements of participating schools. Guests enjoyed a showcase of creative learning from across the city before schools were presented with their Bronze Award trophy and certificates in recognition of their commitment and achievements.
The CREATE Distinguished Schools Award supports Glasgow City Council’s vision for equity, inclusion and excellence in education by ensuring children and young people have access to meaningful creative and cultural experiences. Through expressive arts, schools are helping learners develop confidence, creativity, collaboration and a sense of belonging while strengthening connections with families, communities and cultural partners.
The success of the inaugural year highlights the growing commitment across Glasgow schools to ensuring creativity remains at the heart of learning, teaching and school life.
