We have been reading a book called “My Uncle Foulpest” This book is about a boy called Wally who has an Ogre for an Uncle. The book has two stories about Uncle Foulpest and we have just finished reading the first story. Our IDL topic this term is Climate Change and Global Warming . Today we tried to think of all the different things that use energy. There was so many, we could have gone on for hours! As a class we discussed what Fossil Fuels are. Oil, coal, and gas are fossil fuels which means that they will eventually run out, and they produce C02 which impacts on Global Warming and Climate Change.
Primary 1a have had a very busy week. Here are some of our highlights… We took our learning outdoors as part of Maths Week and we made human bar graphs. We had a visit from our music teacher and we used lots of different instruments to keep a steady beat. We also practised writing our common words of the week a, at and the! What a busy week indeed!
During maths week we looked at how we could arrange dots to make them easy to count. We used dots to make pointillism pictures of fish and tried to count the dots on the fish.
The playground buddy training is continuing to run really well. This week the P7’s were learning how to deal with problems in the playground. In their teams, they were given different scenarios and had to come up with solutions on how they would sort them out in the playground.
Over the past week, P7a have been looking at the differences between nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs to help with our writing. We split up into different expert groups and came up with fun and creative ways to teach the rest of the class about each word type. The adjective group came up with a catchy rap! The adverb group made great posters and a quiz to test their classmates.
