Learning for Sustainability Week at Balornock will begin on Monday 30th April. This will be an all encompassing themed week for our pupils addressing learning within Eco Schools, RRS and HWB. Earth Hour at Balornock

Earth Hour in Balornock Primary will take place on Friday 23rd March between 1-2pm. During this hour, all lights and electrical appliances will be switched off. It’s All Change….

You may have noticed that some ‘new’ bins have recently appeared in our lunch hall?…. The Eco Heroes have decided to take steps towards helping minimise the amount of food being wasted in our school by encouraging everyone at Balornock to put on their Eco thinking caps when clearing up after they have eaten! We now have three separate bins in our lunch hall and would encourage everyone to use accordingly.

Balornock Eco Heroes!

The Balornock Eco Committee had a fantastic meeting last week to continue our discussions on how we minimise food waste, ably facilitated by Tom Armstrong. The group discussed ways of monitoring the school’s food waste. Among the suggestions were pre-ordering the food the day before so as the pupils know what is coming up; and measuring the amount of actual food waste to see if we can reduce that amount

Keep Scotland Beautiful

This week, the boys and girls took part in an Eco competition. We had to design stickers for ‘Clean Up Scotland’ to help them say thank you to all the volunteers who are helping to keep Scotland beautiful. The winning design will be made into stickers which will be included in the ‘Clean Up’ kits that are used. Thank you to all the classes that took part this week and good luck to everyone!
