It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It has been a very busy and fun-filled week at Balornock as we get ready for the festive season! We are all getting ready for the P1 Nativity next week, had a trip to Barmulloch library for Sleeping Beauty Panto and finished the week off with our annual Christmas Fayre! Here are some of Santa’s little helpers (a.k.a our House Captains) decorating our school’s Christmas tree!

Sports Day!

Sports day will take place on Friday 4th May at 9.30am in our playground. All parents, carers and family friends are invited to come along and support their house on the day. Sport your house colours with pride for Sports Day!

Wake Up, Shake Up

Throughout the week we will be offering Wake Up, Shake Up sessions to help us feel energised for the day ahead. Sessions will run from 8.30-9am (Tuesday-Friday) and all parents, carers, pupils and staff are welcome to come along and take part…see you there!

Learning for Sustainability Week at Balornock!

Learning for Sustainability Week at Balornock will begin on Monday 30th April. This will be an all encompassing themed week for our pupils addressing learning within Eco Schools, RRS and HWB. Sense Over Sectarianism Workshop

On Monday afternoon our P7s joined forces with the P7 class from St Martha’s and participated in the first of three workshops on sectarianism. Two visitors called Mark and Scott talked to us about different words relating to sectarianism such as:  Prejudice, discrimination, and sectarianism. Keep Scotland Beautiful

This week, the boys and girls took part in an Eco competition. We had to design stickers for ‘Clean Up Scotland’ to help them say thank you to all the volunteers who are helping to keep Scotland beautiful. The winning design will be made into stickers which will be included in the ‘Clean Up’ kits that are used. Thank you to all the classes that took part this week and good luck to everyone!

The Eco Heroes had a meeting with Tom Armstrong to discuss the topic of reducing food waste in our school. We recognise that there is a problem as a lot of food is being put in the bin instead of being eaten. The Eco Heroes worked together to think of possible solutions to this problem.
