Staff at Sgoil a’ Bhac were this week presented with a Gold Award following a successful Gold assessment under the Healthy Working Lives programme, which is delivered by NHS Health Scotland, a national NHS Board in collaboration with Scotland’s 14 local NHS Boards.
The NHS’s Assessor Jenny Hill stated that “The assessment gave me a great insight into the work of Sgoil a’ Bhac and allowed the opportunity to see the clear and continual commitment of the school to a healthy, safer workplace.” She added “This is a great achievement for the school as other than NHS Western Isles, there are currently no other Gold Award holders in Lewis and Harris and only one other in Uist. As recipients of the Gold Award the staff have demonstrated a clear commitment to promoting and developing Healthy Working Lives as an integral part of Sgoil a’ Bhac. This has been further evidenced by their written health, safety and wellbeing strategy that addresses all aspects of Healthy Working Lives.”

SIP & SQR
Each year, the school produces two key documents. The first of these is our Standards and Quality Report (SQR), which we have presented this year in the form of a short booklet for parents to access more easily. Alongside this, we publish our School Improvement Plan (SIP) for the next session. We hope to make our improvement plan more accessible this session by providing a summary poster to accompany the full planning document. All the documents are attached below:

Parent Survey Results 2016
We had a good response to our parent survey for this year and we are now able to share the results following collation of all the responses received. The results of this survey, combined with the results of similar consultations with pupils and teaching staff, have been used to identify and support priorities for next year’s school Improvement Plan.
The report can be viewed here: Parent Carer Survey Report 2016 – Back

Netball Victory
Sgoil a’ Bhac retain the title of Sports Festival Champions
Congratulations to our two netball teams. They were taking part in the Sports Festival Netball Competition this evening (25/05/16). We’re delighted to report that it was an all-Back final with our two teams making it all the way. The final winners were the Pinks and Yellows were runners-up. Well done to all our pupils and a huge thank you to their coaches and the parents that supported them.
Prize-giving – Change of Date
Due to a clash with this year’s Charlie Nicolson Football Tournament, it has been necessary to change the date of our prize-giving again. It will now take place on Wednesday 22nd June from 10.00am to approximately 12.00pm. We would like to apologise to parents for any inconvenience caused by this date change.
Parent & Carer Survey 2016
Today, we will be issuing our annual Parent and Carer Survey for 2016. As a school, we value your views about the service we provide and the work that we do. Data from the survey is used as evidence to support our annual Standards and Quality Report as well as helping us to identify priorities for our 2016-17 School Improvement Plan.
We would be grateful if you could complete the short survey and return it to the office by Friday 20th May.
A paper copy of the survey was issued to through schoolbag mail and an electronic version can be downloaded here: Parent Carer Survey 2016
