ECO – waste management/zero hunger

This week we recycled something that would have been put in the bin and used it for an art project.  We made pumpkins from cardboard kitchen roll tubes – we painted them orange and then added spooky faces with black crayons and pens. It was great fun and is good for the environment.

Successful Learners – SQA Handling Data (Sweets)

The Transition class broke into their Hallowe’en stash early this week! They were Successful Learners when they categorised the tub of sweets to see how many of each they had.  We started off on the floor but Mr Nicoll suddenly remembered that he was old, so we made the final rows of sweets on the table. We discovered that the most common sweet was a refresher bar closely followed by parma violets (yuck!)

IDL – Numeracy

We having been exploring different toy fruit and vegetables and being doing some role play. We have been pretending to be the shop keeper and  a customer and weighing different fruit and vegetables. We have been comparing them seeing which is heavier. We were all confident individuals and able to choose different things to put on each side of the scales to see which is heavier.

Spooky Fun!

Successful Learners

Yesterday in class, the Sunflower’s were given  a fine motor skills challenge.  Each child actively participated by using tweezers to collect skeletons, bugs, spiders and eye balls from the different jelly bowls.  Everyone was encouraged to taste and touch the jelly too and we managed to collect all of the spooky items from our jelly.

Halloween Crafts

Confident Individuals

Over the past few days, the Sunflower’s have loved making bats and spiders during our craft time.  Each child was able to add a variety of coloured chalks to their black card to create a bat silhouette. Afterwards, we made a spiders web with foam and loved collecting the spiders from the messy tray.  Everyone took part in our paint stamping task using Halloween skull stamps and loved adding glitter to our pumpkins.

Global Goal 3 Good Health and Well-Being

This term in the Oak class we have been successful learners taking part in a variety of lessons to improve knowledge about Global Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being.

This week we reflected on all the lessons we have taken part in this term and decided what we need to feel good about ourselves.  We created posters with lots of photos of our work this term.

Healthy Body + Healthy Mind = Healthy ME!

We decided we needed exercise, friends, relaxation, sleep and healthy food choices.  This week our focus has been using meditation to help us relax and feel very chilled.
