The Tartan Witch

The Transition boys had a treat on Friday when Greta Yorke, the author of ‘The Tartan Witch’ paid a visit to the school. The boys were Responsible Citizens when they sat quietly listening to the story. They then took part in activities that had been brought along. The wonderful activities included; potion making, printing tartan, matching pairs and character play. The boys had a lovely time!

Author Visit

We enjoyed our visit today from author Greta Yorke, who wrote ‘The Tartan Witch’. We listened to the story with all our friends. We were all very responsible citizens and sat and gave the author our full attention.

We then took part in four different stations which were related to the story. We made a magic potion, created our own tartan, played a pairs game and had fun playing with the puppets.

Pizza Pals

Our cookery class this week was a wee bit different with our boys in Transition inviting the Beech class along to enjoy some Pizza with us. All the boys were Confident Individuals when taking the orders of the boys and girls from Beech and creating the pizza they chose on the order form. Of course Beech returned the favour so our boys could enjoy a pizza of their own as well. Well done to both classes involved.

Reading Stars!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams have tried really hard to include more reading time in our timetable this week. We have visited the school library, loved choosing stories to take home from the book swap and we have included 10minute reading sessions at the end of each day. We have read ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe’, ‘Wonky Donkey’ and ‘The Mega Magic Hair Swap’.

FAOL- World Book Day

The Daisies were successful learners during World Book Day. We  participated in a book swap, and chose what books we would like.

We spent time in the sensory room and had great listening to different stories while relaxing in our pajamas and costumes.

We were confident individuals when taking part in our costume parade and enjoyed seeing everyone fantastic costumes and favourite books.

On Friday, we enjoyed a visit from author Greta Yorke who read ‘The Tartan Witch’. We were effective contributors and took part in lots of sensory activities linked to the story. The daisies especially enjoyed making a magic potion!!
