The Moonbeams class had a challenge of placing pictures in order starting from youngest to oldest. They had to look really closely as it got hard to tell after the teenager stage!
We all managed this task well.
* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *
The Moonbeams class listened to the story of Pinocchio as part of our Italian fairytales.
We decided to try and brave drawing a picture of Pinocchio. It was very tricky and we had to do it step by step, one pencil line at a time. When we were finished, we added some colour. We are really proud of these drawings and think they all look really great!
This week in the Pine Room we have being working from an ICE Pack Unit, and looking our Personal Network – we have seen some lovely photos from home in our homework sheet. We looked at what made as happy and what made us sad.
We have been working on our Australian Theme, making pictures and Anzac biscuits.
This week in numeracy we were working on our coin recognition and playing Deal or No Deal. Everyone was successful learners when identifying the coins and then we ordered them from lowest value to highest value.
The Oak boys were confident individuals when trying out the new activities in a sensory PE lesson. The boys took part in deep pressure activities and used equipment that gave their body a lot of feedback, which will help them feel more settled. We had lots of fun trying out all the activities!
Well done, Patrick – clear and accurate signing!
The pupils are continuing to enjoy the fabulous puppet workshop which is being provided by Little VIP’s, Kilmarnock. Here is a sneak peek at the puppets which were created today by our young designers. I think you will agree that we have some very talented and creative pupils at Willowbank School!
Confident individuals today. Wonderful!
The Sunflowers have been busy using art resources to create work inspired by a famous artist. This week the children have been learning about Vincent Van Gogh in relation to their topic about France. Lots of emerging scissor skills were evident and this is something we will be practising more as the term continues.
Super successful learners. Well done boys!

During Maths streaming, Miss Gemmell’s group tried to complete some problem solving challenges. We used new equipment called numicon that we have in the school.
The pupils loved using the matching boards to try and complete the numicon patterns then the class split into two teams and had a challenge of covering a blank numicon board using the numicon shapes. The teams worked really well together and managed to complete the task!
