National Numeracy Day – Shape Streaming

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

It is National Numeracy day and Digidabble week in school so we thought we would have a slightly different streaming lesson. We used iPads and went on a hunt around the sensory garden to find a range of 2D and 3D shapes.

Numicon Fun!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

Miss Gemmell’s Maths streaming group completed more problem solving jobs using numicon. We had races to complete the hundred square boards before the timer ran out and also became familiar with the numicon pegs.

We played a “can you find…?” game using the number spinners and loved our final game which was a game of hide and seek using the numicon sack bag. We were delighted when we managed to put our hands in (with no peeking!) and find the correct numicon shape.

Maths Streaming – Numicon Fun!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

During Maths streaming, Miss Gemmell’s group tried to complete some problem solving challenges. We used new equipment called numicon that we have in the school.

The pupils loved using the matching boards to try and complete the numicon patterns then the class split into two teams and had a challenge of covering a blank numicon board using the numicon shapes. The teams worked really well together and managed to complete the task!

Maths Streaming – Balancing Robots

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS *

The Middle Primary corridor have began our problem solving term during Maths Streaming. Today, we had a challenge of creating a balancing robot. We had to colour our robots in and tried really hard to stay within the lines. Then we used 1p coins and had to work out where to stick them so that our robot would balance. We had fun balancing them on our fingers and even on our noses!
