Giraffes Can’t Dance

We have been exploring the story of ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ for LGBT awareness month. We enjoyed exploring how we all have different hobbies, and are all similar in some ways and different in others.

We created our own ‘Gerald the Giraffe’ puppets and were effective contributors and  used our favourite colours to create a herd of giraffes that were all different.

Looking for the Fairtrade logo

On Monday we went to Tesco on the school bus. We went around the shop looking for the Fairtrade logo on different items. We all found items. We then had a snack in the café. It was great fun.

FAOL – ECO – Responsible Consumption and Production

The Stars class made a recycling poster and discussed how we can recycle at home. We decorated a canvas bag so that we can use it every time we go on outings to save using throw away plastic bags. On a supermarket outing we recycled used batteries from the school.

Fair Trade and Picnics

Its Fair Trade Fortnight and we have been learning all about why buying Fairtrade is important. It makes sure that the farmers who grow the ingredients that we need get paid a fair amount. We know an item is fair trade when it had the Fairtrade logo on it!

We also practiced our writing this week by writing a story about going on a picnic. We got to choose what food and drink we would take, who we would go with and what games we would play.  Lets hope the nicer weather comes back soon so we can have our picnic for real!

Fairtrade Fun!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *

The Bluebells class have enjoyed celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight. We have looked closely at the fairtrade logo and enjoyed drawing and colouring our own on the SMARTboard. We also used fairtrade chocolate to make chocolate crispy cakes. We shared them with all of our friends in the Infant Corridor. They were yummy!

Big British Bird Watch- FAOL

Over the last few weeks Comet class have been taking part in the Big British Bird watch. We have learnt all about the different types of birds we can find in our area, and had fun looking for them. At the end we made a graph to show how many birds we saw. The most common birds were seagulls and sparrows.
