We will Remember

This has been a busy week learning about Remembrance Day.

The class enjoyed listening to the Poppy Story and observing photos and music about our soldiers in the war.  We made a Poppy sun-catcher and worked on our fine motor skills to complete this.  We were responsible citizens and showed our respect for our fallen soldiers during our 2 minutes silence.

We were also learning about Diwali, the festival of lights.  Afterwards we took part in designing some Rangoli patterns and making a candle decoration.  We were confident individuals during these tasks.

Remembrance

We made poppy to commemorate the people who fought in the war. On Tuesday we made small poppies that we taped to our jumpers for our assembly on Wednesday. On Wednesday we added  different materials of red to the middle of a poppy shape and laminated it to make sun catchers for the window in our class. We also mixed icing and added red food colouring to make a poppy biscuits.

Global Goals 12

Responsible consumption and production

We are all effective contributors within the class. We have a recycling bin and have been putting our recyclable rubbish inside this bin. Most pupils bring in a reusable bottle each day to stop plastic waste.

IDL: Responsible Citizens – Remembrance Day

To mark Remembrance Day this year, the Beech class created poppy wreaths and made a soldier silhouette as part of a display.  We were very responsible as each and every pupil took part in a two minute silence and showed great understanding and respect.  Well done, Beech.

Personal Care SQA

Our Personal Care session this week was all about our different body parts.  We played some games and took part in an interactive quiz just to make sure we could all identify our different boy parts!  Here are some pictures of our favourite game:

We went on a ‘body part’ scavenger hunt around the classroom!  Lyle volunteered to be our live model of the human body and pupils were tasked with finding photos of different body parts and matching them to the real body part!  We had lost of fun – Lyle loved being our model
