Diwali Activities

*Successful Learners*  *Confident Individuals*  *Effective Contributors*

This week the Snowdrops have been learning about Diwali – The Festival of Lights, and made beautiful Diva Lamps from clay.  We then painted them and sprinkled them with glitter.  We also looked at Rangoli patterns and made our own from different shapes.

Diwali in Oak

In the Oak class we celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights.  We were confident individuals creating our very own rangoli patterns.  We enjoyed listening to the story about Dipal and how his family celebrates Diwali.  We were all keen sample some of the food that Dipal spoke about in the story.

We were presented with a certificate for taking part in the Willowbank Rangoli competition.

RME Diwali

We have been learning about Diwali the Hindu festival of lights. The Bluebells enjoyed a sensory story where we explored sensory props and took part in role play to learn about the celebration. In the Bluebells the children were confident individuals following instructions to make diva lamps. We were successful learners when we created rangoli patterns using different art materials including rice, sand and paint. Mehndi patterns are a traditional Hindu hand decoration we used crayons to create our own. A massive congratulations to the Bluebells who won the rangoli competition.

Diwali Fun in the Daisies Class!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class enjoyed celebrating Diwali this afternoon. We read a story called “Dipal’s Diwali” and learned about the celebrations and customs related to this festival.

We also explored rainbow coloured salt and enjoyed touching, patting and mixing this.

Finally, we created our own rangoli patterns for a school competition and these are on display on our classroom door.
