The Oak class had a busy week being Successful Learners. We worked hard on our roles in the class Cafe and had a practice cooking session in preparation for our Duke of Edinburgh award. We were Confident Individuals in our music session, singing and creating our own music. We’ve also had lots of fun in our topic work following instructions to make paper airplanes!
*Responsible Citizens
We sorted pictures into what we needed to live safely and those things we would really like but can easily live without. It was not an easy decision at times!
We had a lovely walk to the Dick Institute then the Kay Park where we saw the swans and cygnets.
So this week we started it with making our own story of being on the Titanic, the comets decided if they would be passengers, we’re they came from and what class they wanted to be. We looked at the journey the titanic made from it getting built to sinking. The comets have been working hard in PE and have been practicing for sports day.
On Tuesday we did some literacy and numeracy work and then made our own hand jellyfish puppets. A lot of work went into these.
On Wednesday the comets spent the day with Mrs Macdonald and made some sun catchers and other pieces of art.
On Thursday we did our local walk and ended up in Kay park, playing at the park. The comets had great fun and did great taking turns. We then made birthday cards for Miss stalker as it was her birthday and we even sung happy birthday to her.
On Friday we did literacy and numeracy games and the comets did great with doing individual and team games and even set themselves some challenges. Fantastic!
Have a great weekend everyone. See you Monday.
Today we used cotton buds to make a dinosaur skeleton picture. The pupils were confident individuals using the glue to stick the dinosaur outline on to the page. They then chose some different sized cotton buds to make the bones inside the outline. They were successful learners and did this verbal support from staff and each one looks very different and effective.
Today we pretended we were palaeontologists. We were digging in the rock to see if we could find any dinosaur bones. The pupils were confident individuals at holding the tools and using them to dig around the bones to reveal the dinosaur. It was lots of fun and a little messy.
We have celebrated all things bees and honey this week in the Beech class to help celebrate World Bee Day this Friday. We read the story ‘Willbee the Bumblebee’ by Craig Smith and Maureen Thomson and then completed a range of activities based on bees, their life cycle and how they help our planet.
We attempted to make honeycomb and honey biscuits in cookery this week, too but we were not very successful!
Here are some of our more successful ventures! Our favourite activity was a pollination experiment where we tested how easily pollen spreads from flower to flower using crisp crumbs!
We have started to develop an enterprise group in the Beech class recently. We have opened up our very own spa in class and are in the middle of training up our staff in customer service, money handling, time management and pamper skills! We were all very successful learners and effective contributors as we took on our different roles.
We were confident individuals this week on our local outing to the park.
We practised our road safety skills and had sensible walking then were responsible citizens, sharing park equipment with our peers.
