Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe Transition class were Successful Learners this week when we discovered more about how different parts of our bodies feel when we do different things. We made lots of noises with our voices and discussed how our voice box felt. We also took part in a lot of stretching and tried to describe how our muscles felt. There were a lot of different, interesting answers. Well done everyone!
As part of their SQA healthy cooking and Burns work, the Transition class were Confident Individuals preparing neeps this week. They all peeled and chopped very safely, following instructions very well. however, I don’t think the taste of raw neep was universally liked!
This week the Transition class were Effective Contributors when they had their first visit from Drake Music. Due to current restrictions this was online but everyone in the class interacted well and took their turn to sing, make noise or rhythm. Well done!
Some of the Transition class began learning about photographic routes for their DofE expedition this week. They were Successful Learners when they took some lettered stones out into the Kay Park and placed them for the rest of the class to find next week. They photographed their route and the places the stones are so that the class can easily find them. Watch this space!
It has been a busy week of Burns’ Supper preparation in Transition class. The class have been Confident Individuals making name tags and hats, trying on kilts, rehearsing singing Burns’ songs, practicing signing and refreshing our memories on setting a table. Everyone played their part well and we are all looking forward to filming our efforts next week.
The Transition class were Responsible Citizens, taking part in ceilidh dancing at their PE lesson this week. We all took part in a warm up then danced the Military Two Step and the St Bernard’s Waltz. Everyone paid good attention to listen and learn the steps.
The Transition class got straight back into the swing of things working on New Year activities. They reflected on their holiday and discovered the traditions and meaning behind different ways to celebrate the New Year. Some pupils read information and answered questions, some used their pen control skills to create a colourful New Year message. We all made New Year’s resolutions and then sang Auld Lang Syne.
The Transition class were Successful Learners applying their numeracy and literacy skills in a combined task. The class read a Christmas story pulling out key events. They then had different time lines to match to clock faces. The class worked really well despite it being the end of term! Well done everyone!
In our last dance session of 2021 the Transition class were Confident Individuals. Everything that we had previously used was on offer and we were all very tired after putting in lots of effort. Well done everybody!
The Transition class had lots of fun taking part in the Singing Hands Live Concert. They all signed, waved their light up tambourines and danced all afternoon! They were all Effective Contributors.
