Responsible Citizens – Red Nose Day

The Transition  were Responsible Citizens and the class took part in a few Red Nose Day activities. They were challenged from another class to try and get a biscuit from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands. A lot of chocolate got on faces! We also did some painting with a hammer! We designed a face to add a red nose to. Lots of red paint was put in the nose area which was covered before being splatted with a hammer! Just as well we had our protective suits on!

Successful Learners – Science Cooking

The Transition class were Successful Learners when they applied science to their cooking class. They juiced lemons and had a wee taste, some very funny faces was the result. They then added some sugar before adding a spoonful of baking soda. The reaction was instant! There were a lot of bubbles produced when the powder reacted with the acidic lemon juice. Some bubbles flowed over the cup and onto the table. The resulting drink was a bit better tasting!

There was a lot of focus in the cookery room this week. The Transition class were Confident Individuals when they tried to make the neatest sandwich. The class worked on their motor skills by spreading, slicing, grating, squeezing and finally cutting before enjoying a cheese and ham sandwich. The sandwiches would be too dry on their own, cups of tea had to be made!

During our Health and Wellbeing time the Transition class took the time to take a break from Science Week prep. We took part in an African Safari Yoga. Everyone used their special binoculars to look at their class mates doing a yoga pose. They had to guess which part of our safari it represented. We had lions, zebra, snakes, elephants and mountains to name a few.
