Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe Transition boys were Confident Individuals in the cookery room this week. They were set the challenge to independently make one serving of beans on toast. They boys successfully and safely portioned the beans, used the microwave and toaster and spread their own butter. Their reward for achieving this was…….a lovely plate of beans on toast!
As part of their Work Experience class this week the Transition boys helped to put up the Christmas Tree. The lights were in the usual tangle so the boys were Effective Contributors and applied their problem solving skills. They untangled the lights and wrapped them around plastic lids. This allowed us to pass them around the tree without any birds nests or knots. Well done boys, it was a great effort!
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they finished their Christmas Craft items. They all focussed very well when they use the sewing machine and made sure they were safe. The Transition boys were Successful Learners as they continued their Literacy and Numeracy by completing their daily tasks.
The Transition boys enjoyed a lovely walk to the Kay Park. They were Responsible Citizens when they fed the ducks, walked safely round the pond and completed two more of their fifty things.
The Transition boys were Successful Learners this week when they learned how to use a die cutting machine to cut intricate designs for the class Christmas snow globe. If you want to see our fabulous design come to the Christmas fayre.
Massive congratulations to four of our Transition boys who recently received their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Last week they received their badges at the Council Awards Evening and this week Mrs Smallwood presented the boys with their certificates at the Secondary Assembly. Well done! They are all Confident Individuals.
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors this week when they were working in the cookery room. They used their literacy skills to follow the recipe and their numeracy skills to weigh and measure ingredients. The boys successfully made delicious chocolate cakes
The Transition boys were Responsible Citizens this week when they took part in their SQA Work Experience class. They used their literacy skills to carefully read each bin label so the contents didn’t get mixed. They also helped to sweep the leaves that had been blown into the school.
