Responsible Citizens – Community Travel

The Second half of the class had their opportunity to fly a kite this week, but……… there was no wind! Instead the group took the opportunity to demonstrate safe travel in the community and prove that they are Responsible Citizens. Well done everyone, I’m sure the wind will pick up soon!

Effective Contributors – Dance

The Transition class took a break from rehearsing out Xmas show this week and just danced to keep moving and improve fitness. We had use of all the equipment and moved our bodies in many different ways. The whole class listened to Mrs Feeney very well and were Effective Contributors to each dance routine. A favourite was the wings, just a shame we couldn’t really fly!

Confident Individuals – Polybat/Table Tennis

The Transition class were Confident Individuals when focusing on their Polybat/Table Tennis skills this week. We took the lesson outdoors (before the wind came) and successfully transferred skills learned in polybat to table tennis. Some pupils even managed to score points against Mr Nicoll!

For our writing skills activity this week we thought we’d get a head start on St Andrew’s Day. The class were Successful Learners when competing their shape skills and addition skills with a Scottish twist.

Confident Individuals – Weather Numeracy Skills

The weather was colder this week. The Transition class were Confident Individuals using their numeracy skills when checking the weather. The class check the weather on a daily basis and demonstrate their understanding of numbers and the effect of the low temperature. They all chose correct clothing for each different day. Try and stay warm!

Confident Individuals – Pudsey Day

The Transition class took part in Children In Need day on Friday. They were all Confident Individuals taking part in a variety of tasks. We all shared what makes us special to make a Pudsey display, tried to throw the spot onto Pudsey’s bandage and took part in an outdoor Pudsey hunt. Well done everyone!

Effective Contributors – Christmas Craft

Whilst some of the class were out on community travel, those left behind continued the Christmas display work. They were Effective Contributors when they all worked together making snowy backgrounds, white wooden snowman heads and decorated Christmas trees. They were using fake snow which even got hoovered up to ensure the class was alltidy and presentable.

Responsible Citizens – Community Travel and 50 Things to do in the Outdoors

Half the class had the opportunity to go on their community travel outing this week. They combined their trip out with one of their 50 Things to do in the Outdoors. This activity was flying a kite. The group were Responsible Citizens when crossing the road and walking to the park. The wind was variable but everyone managed to get the kite into the air. One pupil (who will remain nameless) managed to crash it into Mr Nicoll’s head. I hope it was an accident!

Successful Learners – Healthy Eating

Some of the Transition class had their cookery time this week. They were Successful Learners when they chose a healthy way to prepare potatoes. They chose to make low fat potato salad. Skills on show were using the microwave, chopping spring onions and mixing ingredients together. As usual Mr Nicoll didn’t even get a tiny wee bit to taste. Good skills everyone.

Effective Contributors – Snowman Decoration

The Transition class were Effective Contributors when they helped make the class Snowman decoration. They chose to model it on the original snowman from the movie ‘The Snowman’. Crepe paper was used to make the nose look like an orange. Some pupils used paint to make cotton balls look like coal. A real group effort.
