Pupil’s brought in chocolate recipes for homework. We chose photographs for recipe cards and laminated them to stop them getting splashed in the kitchen. Some recipes were tried and tested at HE.
The Stars class invited the Sungazers class for a golden ticket treasure hunt. As it was raining we had to have it indoors but nevertheless we had a fun time. We made tasty chocolate crispie cake to serve for snack.
We had our second visit to CC’s Chocolate Creations where owner Carol warmly welcomed us. We saw all the chocolate creations she’d made and enjoyed dipping marshmallows in melted chocolate. Yum! We used our new eco bag when shopping.
The Stars class enjoyed Hallowe’en activities this week and a wonderful visit from Singing Hands. The fun was enough to, ‘waken the dead!’.
As part of our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme we made ‘lickable wallpaper’ just like in Willy Wonka’s factory. We used ‘Fruit Winders’ to make patterned wallpaper which we were able to lick. It tasted of strawberries and apples.
The Stars class made ice cream by shaking a zipped bag of milk, sugar and cocoa powder within a zipped bag of ice and salt. We were amazed how quickly ice cream formed. It tasted delicious.
The Stars class ground wheat to show how flour is made then baked a tasty loaf of bread which we enjoyed for snack. We collected groceries for the Harvest assembly which was then donated to the local food bank.
The Stars class visited CC’s Chocolate Creations in Kilmarnock to watch the owner, Carol, make fantastic chocolate bars and shapes. Carol invited us to dip marshmallows in melted chocolate. They smelled and tasted delicious. As Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is our theme this term we bought not a golden ticket but a golden bar of chocolate for class. Yum! The rest of the class will visit CC’s Chocolate Creations on our next allocated bus day.
The Stars class made mars bar cake which we sold in school for Macmillan Day. There was only one piece left………….and that didn’t last long back in class! We are proud to say we made £9.90 to donate to the appeal. We participated in Friday afternoon activities. We iced biscuits, created a colourful cupcake picture, made a fizzing green volcano and enjoyed sensory handling. A great afternoon was had by all.
