We had a little bit of fun today in the Transition class but at the same time helped the boys towards their independence. The transition boys played a game of kitbag where they had to be the fastest team to put on a selection of clothes from a kitbag. They were all Responsible Citizens and helped each other out with shirt buttons and shoe laces. Ethan and Oliver were the winners by a fine margin. Well Done boys.

Fab Friendships
Every day in the Oak class the boys always manage to do or say something that makes everyone smile. Today they were responsible citizens whilst they had fun exploring at the Kay Park.
The Oak boys all have such a fantastic friendship group and care for one another within their class. This was evident today on their outing.
Transition shopping trip
The Boys were Responsible Citizens during community travel. Some boys walked into town and the some travelled by bus. We all met up in Burns’ Mall and searched for items from our shopping list. Some were harder to find than others!
The Oak boys walked to the Coffee Trader today, they were responsible citizens and very road safety aware.
The boys placed their order and Blake had the responsibility to pay for the order and select the correct coins.
Author Visit
We enjoyed our visit today from author Greta Yorke, who wrote ‘The Tartan Witch’. We listened to the story with all our friends. We were all very responsible citizens and sat and gave the author our full attention.
We then took part in four different stations which were related to the story. We made a magic potion, created our own tartan, played a pairs game and had fun playing with the puppets.
Sensory Assembly
The transition boys enjoyed an Eco sensory assembly. They were all Responsible Citizens when doing a variety of sensory activities.
Fairtrade Fun
This week the Stars class have learnt about Fairtrade and made tasty mars bar cake for the Willowbank Bake Off. We heard about Pablo the Banana and his banana journey. On Friday we played Fairtrade games in the hall with the Sungazers and Moonbeams and enjoyed a Monkey Hunt. On outings we sourced produce with the Fairtrade logo on.
A lot of Monkey Business
Continuing the Fairtrade theme, the boys in Transition participated in a hunt for a monkey that had been spotted in the school. They followed a set of clues and were Responsible Citizens going around the school working as a team. In the end they found the monkey in the sensory room (some less keen than others) and were all given a Fairtrade banana for their snack.
Jump to it!
In Transition class we have been looking at the book ‘Jump!’ for LGBT awareness. It’s about a boy who likes to jump but his mum wont let him take part in ballet. The boys were Responsible Citizens when we discussed why the mum might have stopped her boy dancing.
The boys recreated some of the scenes from the book including jumping and plié-ing and using their jumping skills for basketball.
FAOL – ECO/Sustainable Development
The Stars class explored the problem of poverty and the unfortunate need for food banks. On our class outing we chose non-perishable cereal to buy and donate to the food bank collection box in Tesco’s.
