Enterprise Craft

We created a rainbow star hanging decoration for our Enterprise craft activity.

We used different shapes to create a rainbow, we had to work on our problem solving skills to complete this task.  We were all successful learners in this task.

IDL Scotland

We enjoyed taking part in our IDL topic work this week.  We are learning about Scottish music past and present.  Confident individuals all round when sharing their opinions and all actively engaged in the activities.

We created posters to identify the locations that our Scottish artists originated from.  We started in Kilmarnock and then used our knowledge of directional awareness to follow verbal instructions to find the next location.

Christmas Time

In the Oak class we have been getting into the Christmas spirit.  We were effective contributors during our music lesson.  We all had a boomwhacker and together we had to wait and listen until it was our turn to play the note to create the tune of ‘Jingle Bells’.

We took part in lots for art activities to create some lovely Christmas crafts. We were confident individuals when choosing the items for our Santa wish list.

St Andrew’s Day

To celebrate St Andrew’s Day, in the Oak class we have made some thistles and weaved some tartan.  We were successful learners and worked on our fine motor skills. We all actively participated in all the activities, we were creative and used different shapes to create our own thistle.

We prepared the Christmas decorations for the school and also made some Grinch tree baubles to match the Christmas cards we made.  The Oak class will not let the COVID Grinch steal Christmas this year.

Christmas Surprise

We have been working hard on our performance for the virtual Christmas performance.  We have been confident individuals when completing our roles within the performance.

It is a surprise so no photos can be revealed until the day.

We have been effective contributors when decorating trees for our Christmas wall display.

We will Remember

This has been a busy week learning about Remembrance Day.

The class enjoyed listening to the Poppy Story and observing photos and music about our soldiers in the war.  We made a Poppy sun-catcher and worked on our fine motor skills to complete this.  We were responsible citizens and showed our respect for our fallen soldiers during our 2 minutes silence.

We were also learning about Diwali, the festival of lights.  Afterwards we took part in designing some Rangoli patterns and making a candle decoration.  We were confident individuals during these tasks.

Pudsey Fun

Everyone enjoyed a fun Friday taking part in some Pudsey fun games.  We worked together as a team to complete some movement challenges and piece together our broken Pudsey. We were effective contributors and worked together to complete the challenge.

This week has went off with a BANG!

In the Oak class we are continuing to interact with our friends and learn new card games,  so far we have played snap and scabby queen.  We have been effective contributors and participated actively during our games.

We completed our work on raising our awareness on climate change and the effect of natural disasters to people and animals homes.  We were confident individuals when sharing our thoughts on each picture and demonstrated understanding of the situation in each picture.

It was fireworks night, we completed a lot of literacy work this week with a firework theme and then created these lovely bright pictures.

 

We are in November, so it is time for Christmas show rehearsals to start within the class.  Successful learners when learning to play their song for the virtual show.

Successful learners all round during literacy, every one had their individual work to complete. Everyone focused their attention to complete the tasks set.

Spooktacular Week in Oak

We enjoyed some noisy music experiences on the drum kit to Queen, ‘Another one bites the dust’. Everyone participated actively and were successful learners when finding a rhythm on the drum kit.

All week our literacy and numeracy tasks have had a Halloween theme we had confident individuals who focused their attention to all the tasks that were set.

We had fun making masks and shared our Halloween art work at our virtual assembly.

We played some Halloween themed games and had to think of an alternate apple game this year.  Much fun was had by everyone and they all participated actively.

IDL The Great Outdoors

This term the Oak class have been completing interdisciplinary learning through our Great Outdoors theme work.

We have enjoyed learning through the story, ‘A Camping Spree with Mr Magee’. Everyone participated actively in all the activities, the Oak class enjoy learning outdoors and being active.

Here are some of the highlights of our theme work;

Confident Individuals during literacy tasks.  We made binoculars and played ‘I Spy’.  We also enjoyed taking photos of the things we enjoy using in the playground.  We had to share with our peers our favourite item, we worked hard on using speech and Makaton.

     

 

We loved building a tent and making a den, we were effective contributors, working together and having fun climbing inside.

Successful learners during numeracy, we used google maps to work out the distance of our house to school.  Also worked out who has the longest and shortest journey to school.

We worked on our directional awareness through the bee bots and fun activities on chairs.
