Active Maths

We have been working hard on number skills by taking part in lots of active maths activities.

 

We have been ordering numbers, subitising, and corresponding objects to numbers. We have been successful learners and are applying problem solving skills to work independently at activities.

Here Comes The Money

The boys in Transition have been practicing their money this week and have been doing excellent with it. From sorting coins into correct ascending order to playing a shopkeeper game and buying items at the listed price. All boys were successful learners and thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

Money skills

The Transition boys were Successful Learners when they revisited their money skills after the summer. They sorted coined into groups and made common totals from different coins.

We’re back!

The Transition boys are back and straight into their hard work. We took advantage of the sun and worked on our maths skills outside. The boys chose a small number of items then added  ten more. The boys must have been well rested after their holidays because they put in a tremendous effort and were Successful Learners.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This week we have enjoyed getting to know each other better through lots of different activities. We have watched more of our movie and learned more about the characters – and what food we could make in Cookery. This week we made Pizza – hope you all enjoyed your sample?? We have enjoyed MOVE, music and our sensory play. We also enjoyed playing Dominoes and Bingo during Numeracy.

FAOL – Outdoor Learning

The Stars class have had a good ‘Play on the longest day’ week. We created nature’s crowns, painted with natural paint brushes, did leaf printing, had a picnic in the garden, planted peas and green beans, did number work, had a colour treasure hunt, played on the playground equipment and had story time. We had a busy and enjoyable week.

Bush Tucker Treasure Hunt

The Stars class invited the Sungazers class to a Bush Tucker Treasure Hunt in the sensory garden. We looked for fruit pictured in our worksheet and counted them. Afterwards we had a sociable snack together in the Stars class. Everybody seemed to have a good time.

Australia, Numeracy, Dog Therapy and more..

This week we have been evaluating our Australian theme, decided what we liked best, we all liked our story ‘There was an old lady that swallowed and we enjoyed making all the different animals in art. And we enjoyed Australian cookery – especially the mini pavlovas – they were yummy!!!!

 

We also used technology to carry out our numeracy lessons this week the iPads and Active Board.

And also managed to play outside in the sunshine, and met Poppy.

Numeracy

The Transition boys were Effective Contributors in their numeracy lesson. The boys were given a puzzle and they had to put it together matching the correct picture with the correct number.  They were also given sheet to colour to work out different ways to make a total of ten.
