Confident individuals and Successful learners
The Comet class have had lots of fun getting into the Halloween Spirit this week. We had a magic lessons on Tuesday when we learnt how to make potions. We mixed our magic potion juice with common household items to see what colour it would turn. We all made a prediction for what colour we would see. It was lots of fun but the potion juice smelt very bad!
On Wednesday it was pumpkin carving day. It was very messy as we all carved and scooped out the pumpkins, there was seeds everywhere! We finished though with 4 very scary pumpkins to decorate our class with.
And then on Friday we all dressed up in our fantastic costumes and had a super fun day. Happy Halloween everyone!
As part of our topic “A Bug’s Life” we have been out in the sensory garden exploring and looking for different bugs. But once we return to the classroom we are all confident individuals and are able to stand and wash our hands. Washing hands is very important at the moment – but even more important if you have been exploring the ground outside. All children are supported to wash their hands with soap and water. Some are able to push the dispenser and get their own soap, and some are supported with this. They are then encouraged to sing the handwashing song to ensure all germs are washed away.
The Stars class were confident individuals and effective contributors when enjoying autumn and harvest activities this week. We did leaf colouring on the promethean board, handled colourful, pungent smelling, crunchy and noisy leaves and ground our own flour from wheat. We did harvest sorting activities and created lovely hedgehog pictures and harvest decorations. We also had fun tossing leaves on the parachute!
The Comets class have been super busy with lots of different activities this past week.
We have done lots of work looking at the changing season. We know leaves fall from the trees, it gets colder and its pumpkin time! We completed art activities to make hedgehogs out of leaves and we also made pumpkins.
We have also continued to work on our life skills, this week we practiced folding lots of clothes. Everyone did a brilliant job helping to tidy up and fold the clothes away neatly.
The Stars class were confident individuals and successful learners when we followed a maths trail in the garden. We followed instructions to collect and count items from the garden as well as identify and make shapes.
SCIENCE – BOUNCY EGG
We soaked boiled eggs in vinegar and found that the shell turned soft, We tentatively checked if it would bounce and it did……..a little!
We had a great time last Friday decorating biscuits and cakes for MacMillan Coffee Morning. We made faces for our gingerbread body and turned a Swiss roll into a caterpillar cake. More fun was had eating the biscuits and cakes than making them I think!
The Stars class have been confident individuals and successful learners whilst enjoying outside activities when the weather is good. We have been looking at the garden trees and how they change over the year. We created lovely pictures for the class wall of the four seasons of the tree. We discussed our needs and wants this week and had a great time with the car ramp deciding which slopes and surfaces made our cars go farther……and faster! We enjoyed hearing the story of the ‘Loaves and Fishes’ and were amazed at how five wee loaves and two fishes could feed five thousand people!
Hello everybody.
I can’t believe it’s the end of term already! What a strange way to end this year. We have to say farewell to our two leavers and wish you all the best in the future. You will be missed! Keep your eyes peeled for some visitors this week! Everyone else I hope you enjoy the summer and I’ll see you at after the holidays in our new normal way of working. You should also look out out for visitors this week too!
Below are some ideas for over summer. You can pick and choose whatever you would like to do.
Stay healthy and be kind to each other.
Mr Nicoll
Hi everyone. We hope all is good for you and that you are enjoying the mild weather.
Helping at home
Our families do lots around the house to look after us. Maybe you could help them do some chores. Why don’t you help………
Set the dinner table
Clear the dinner table
Wipe the dinner table
Wash and dry the dishes
Vacuum any crumbs up
Brush the floor
Dust
Mrs Logan, Mrs Westerman and Mrs Gardner have been very busy doing these chores around our own homes.
Balloon Rocket
Mrs Chisholm and her family had a great time making balloon rockets. Her children enjoyed this activity so much that they showed their teacher’s at their own school what they had done.
Why don’t you try making a balloon rocket too. All you need is some string, scissors, a straw, balloon and sellotape.

Picture Dominoes
We have good fun matching the pictures in this game. If you don’t have a picture dominoes game at home why don’t you print out these farm animal picture dominoes.
