First outing of the year for Beech

Today, some of the Beech class enjoyed an outing into town via the public bus for some cookery ingredients!  We went to M&S, Farmfoods and our local fruit market stall.  We were successful learners as we used effective communication when speaking to bus drivers  and shop assistants.  We practised our money handling skills in the shops, too.

50 things to do…outdoors!

Part two of our 50 things to do outdoors challenge!  We braved the strong winds to make a nature crown this week! We were very effective contributors as we embraced the weather and worked together to find lots of different types of leaves and flowers.

FAOL – whole school

The Sunflower class have settled well into p1. We all  attend assembly weekly. We can sit and listen to classes share information and news during their class assembly. Some of us have already received the star of the week certificate and were able to  stand up and be sung to receiving their star of the week award. They were even able to help stick their certificate on the wall for everyone to see.

We were all able to sit at the front of the assembly and be confident individuals during our class assembly. We were able to hold up the SHANARRI indicators at the correct time and share out learning with the primary classes.

FAOL – Outdoor Education – Parakite Exploration

The Sungazers Class have had great fun exploring the class parakite over the last couple of weeks.  Everyone has enjoyed taking a turn to get it to fly with some adult support.  We have talked about how we need a windy day to get it to fly more effectively and when there is no wind, we need to run fast with it in order for it to fly!  After the holiday we will be making and decorating our own kites to fly!

Drawing with Detail!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Bluebells class were very focused during today’s drawing lesson. We had to copy step by step lines from the board and by doing this we managed to create a Harvest fruit basket.

Once our drawing was finished, we had to carefully colour in and try and stay within the lines.

We were very proud of our finished products!

Sunflowers go on the bus to Hansel

The Sunflowers class were very excited to go on their first bus trip today.  We were responsible citizens on the bus, and once we got to Hansel we all chose a snack.  We went for a walk around the grounds before it was time to go back to school.

IDL – exploring my local community

Confident Individuals/Successful Learners

The Snowdrops have been out in their local community and visited Tesco supermarket.  We used a pictorial shopping list showing the fruit and vegetables we wanted to buy.  All pupils were able to help find everything on our list; putting items into our trolley and saying or signing vegetable and fruit names.  Great shopping everyone!
