Scots Wha Hae!

Here’s a video of the Scottish Country Dancing that Miss Irvine and Mr Archibald have been teaching to the whole school this session. P2-P7 had fun learning the dances to traditional music and also to Electronic Dance Music. Daft Punk were a particular favourite amongst the pupils.

The music in this recording is the song version of the Scots poem Scots Wha Hae! by Rabbie Burns which P5-7 learned during handwriting and Mr Archibald accompanied on the guitar. This poem is what Burns imagined Robert the Bruce might have addressed his troops with before the battle of Bannockburn. P5-7 have been learning about the Scottish Wars of Independence.

The Ocean

This week P2-4 painted an ocean. It was really fun. We also found out facts about octopus with Miss Irvine and Miss Primrose.

Microbit Magic 8

On the 13th of September the P5-7 class made Magic 8 Balls with the help of Microbit computers. We used it to code and say different things so we couldn’t of done it without the Microbits.

Today we were working in Pupil Groups. The Pupil groups are: Digital Leaders, Fundraising, Pupil Council and Gardeners.

Eels in the Classroom

A week last Friday the P7s and a bonus P5 represented the school and the Eels in the Classroom Project at the Johnstonebridge Community Centre, after school. One of the P7s made a speech about her experience which I have shared below, and which contains an important message. Hannah is dressed as Roald Dahl ‘s Matilda for good measure!

Another Snow Day

School is closed again today. I hope everyone is safe in this cold weather.

Things to do other than destroy your brains with devices or TV:

Go out and play in the snow, this may be the most you’ll see in your childhood (make sure you tell whoever is looking after you and are prepared for the weather)
Read
Write about your day off (any P7s who have written a blog post, and have their password, should write it up on this blog and I’ll post it)
Do some iXL maths (see homework link at the side)
Do some Spelling City (as above)
