P4-7 den building

P4-7 worked together yesterday afternoon with a den building competition – teams had limited resources which they had to trade each other for, learning how to utilise resources, negotiate and communicate as a team to build a successful den which every member of the team had to be able to fit inside!

Sampling

P5/4 have been working with Kilchrenan primary school over this last term, and today spent the day at Kilchrenan working with them to learn sampling techniques in the Kilchrenan grounds looking at biodiversity.
In the afternoon they had an absolutely fantastic American football taster session with coach William Humphries, learning how to throw an American football and how to run ‘routes’. A huge thank you to William, and to Allan Wright and Gillian Walker for making this happen.

P5/4 perform Shakespear’s 12th Night

P5/4 have been working on playscripts this term, looking at the play ‘Twelfth Night’ by Shakespeare. To show what they have learned about performance, interpreting characters and stage directions, they put their hard work on display during a visit to Kilchrenan today and brought the house down 👏

P7/6 Topic Presentations

P7/6 kicked off their class presentations today with a fantastic variety of projects – there was spectacular knowledge of cars, a manga drawing lesson, information about black & white holes and space themed cup cakes 🧁, hints on eating healthily and how to cook some Venezuelan dishes and some farm items to identify and lots of amoo-zing cow facts!

P7/6 presentations
Each P7 chose a topic they were interested in and gave a presentation about it.

Lochgoilhead Info Evening

There was a good turnout of parents and children from Dalmally and Taynuilt Primaries for the information evening about our Outdoor Residential trip that is scheduled for the second week back in August.

Virtual Games

Every Friday afternoon, our P5/4 and P7/6 classes have been joining forces and enjoying joint PE sessions down at the big pitch in the village. They are currently taking part in the ‘Virtual Games’ each week, an online sports day where schools post their scores from a variety of events and compete against each other. Great teamwork has been on display!

P5/4 are learning about bees

P5/4 have been working hard on their topic on biodiversity, looking at bees. We had a fabulous visit from Donald Harrison who taught us how bees are kept, how they behave and how honey is actually made! We have also been researching ‘bee friendly’ flowers and made our own wildlife haven for pollinators outside our classroom using recycled bottles to create hanging baskets. We are carrying out weekly bee surveys to look at the impact of our work 🐝
