Our youngest children learn to read using Read Write Inc. Read Write Inc. was first created by Ruth Miskin in 2002. It is the UK’s leading synthetic phonics programme with the most bespoke phonics professional development.
At Taynuilt have lots of different resources that we use to teach reading including Oxford Reading tree at all levels, Barrington Stoke, graphic novels, plays, poetry and reference books covering a wide variety of topics . We have a vast library of fiction arranged in reading levels based on the Accelerated Reading approach to real reading.
We use a variety of formative assessment techniques everyday to respond to our learners needs as they progress throughout each term. YARK, Suffolk, SNSA materials are used as summative assessments to record a child’s reading ability at points of transition.
