Enterprise Policy

Staff involvement
This policy was drawn up in the consultation with the Head Teacher of Taynuilt Primary School and the staff of Taynuilt Pre 5 Unit.

Rationale
At Taynuilt Pre 5 Unit we recognise the importance of enterprise education. We see enterprise as a way to foster and develop core skills in real situations to enable children to become confident individuals, successful learners, responsible citizens and effective contributors,

Aims
Through enterprise we aim to:

  • Develop core skills such as communication, numeracy, literacy, problem solving, using ICT and working with others.
  • Develop enterprising attitudes and skills through learning.
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of the world around us.
  • Enhance personal and social development.
  • Develop skills in citizenship.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Interact with the wider community.
  • Make informed choices and decisions and be able to take action, individually and as part of a team.
  • Raise awareness about the importance of fundraising and helping others.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers.

Enterprise Activities

  • Contact with outside agencies.
  • Visits to local businesses.
  • Community links.

Monitoring and Review
It is the responsibility of the Head Teacher along with the Pre 5 staff to monitor, evaluate and review the above arrangements and effectiveness of this policy and adjust them according to need.
