Swaping coding tips with children at Barcaldine

The children at Barcaldine showed us how to use Microbits. We showed them how to use SCRATCH in return.  This was a fun way to make friends with children we will meet in Oban High School next year and to share our coding skills.

Our buddies came to play

We read to them

we drew pictures for them with chalk

And we played with many, many more exciting things. We think they will want to come again soon.

Christmas craft fair at the Corran Halls

Emzo and Oona drew in the crowds at the Corran Halls and raised a staggering £???

They were also invited to attend the Oban High School Craft Fair and raised a further £???

At Oban High we also sold our Oban version of the mugs. We also gave away lots of Taynuilt badges to all of the former pupils who came to say hello

Science week day 5

The last day of science week 😞

Today was all about the chemistry of carbon dioxide – we thought about how to create a reaction using just fizzy drinks and mento sweets. The children were challenged to think about what they wanted to test (flavour of drink, diet versus normal or number of mentos) and to come up with an experiment that was a fair test to test their predictions. We thought about what happened, and why it happened.
A huge, huge thank you to the p7/6 pupils who have grown so much over the week, running sessions, developing their questioning skills and beginning their journey as STEM leaders (more to come on this so stay tuned!).

We hope everyone has had a brilliant scientific week.
