Hermitage Primary School qualifies for Scottish National Finals

Hermitage Primary School has qualified for the Scottish National Finals at Toryglen Football Centre. The team under Mr. Henry, having previously progressed from the West Regional Qualifiers last November, made the journey to Toryglen on Wednesday. They made the journey to Glasgow knowing that they faced some stiff competition. They were to play against the best teams from the West of Scotland, hoping to grab their opportunity to compete against the best teams in Scotland.

Barcaldine Burns Competition winners!!

Barcaldine Primary School along with many other local Primary Schools participated in Kilninver Primary School’s Burns Competition. Barcaldine school children were very productive and sent entries in for poems, stories, pictures (hand-drawn and computerised) and powerpoints.

We achieved a 1st Prize in P5 Poem and a 2nd prize in the P7 Poem categories and also 5 Highly Commended certificates for powerpoints, poems and pictures.
Well done!!!!!

Mud Exchanged for Medals at Hermitage Primary

Months of cross country training paid off for Primary 6 pupils from Hermitage Primary when they competed at the Garscube Harrier’s Schools’ Cross Country last Saturday. Not only did the girls and boys team win bronze but Keir and Rachel both won individual 3rd places over the gruelling and very muddy 2.1km course. Cameron and Chloe represented the school as individual runners in the Primary 5 and 7 races respectively. Cameron was delighted with his top 10 place and Chloe ran superbly to take 12 seconds off her time last year and finish 11th.

Burns Poetry Recitation Competition in Dalintober Primary

P6 pupils held a very successful Burns Poetry Recitation Competition in their class a few weeks ago. They had all learned some verses of ‘To A Mouse’ and recited them before their class and an invited judge. FilmG – Tobermory High School

Gàidhlig pupils from S4 and S6 at Tobermory High School are celebrating after being shortlisted in two categories of the 12-17 category of the FilmG Awards. FilmG is a Gaelic short film competition which is now established as one of country’s best platforms for getting yourself and your work noticed. Scottish Schools ski qualifier – Nevis Range

On Thursday 7th February, a team of four skiers, Isla Fowler, Lawrence Lister, Connor McIntyre and Patrick Feeney from the high school, entered a ski competition at Nevis Range ski centre. After a very early start, 6:15am, we arrived in good time to have a warm up and study the slalom course. Road Safety Challenges at North Bute

Our whole school have just finished a Dark Days Challenge Week of road safety activities and events organised in conjunction with Towards Zero Carbon Bute, a local environmental organisation. We worked in our eco groups – Healthy Living Group, Pupil Council and Eco Group – to plan and run a week’s programme of events based on keeping ourselves safe on the roads during winter – dark days! HELENSBURGH TOYOTA DREAM CAR WINNER

We are thrilled to announce that one of our Primary 7 pupils – Stewart Peden – gained first place in the age 10-12 category of the Helensburgh Toyota Dream Car Competition. Stewart attended a prize-giving ceremony at Toyota, Helensburgh on Friday afternoon where he was presented with a DS 3D and £200 towards School Funds. Congratulations to Shona MacKenzie, Barcaldine Primary School

Congratulations to Shona McKenzie, a P7 pupil of Barcaldine Primary School for her runner-up prize in the Helensburgh Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. She was one of 400 regional entries and received a £30 Amazon voucher. Shona’s entry along with the rest will now be forwarded onto the next stage of the competition where a UK winner will be found. Dalintober PS Pupils Perform at Care Home
Three P7 pupils from Dalintober PS – Alex, Dhyllon and Louise were invited to pipe in the haggis at the Burns Supper for residents of Auchinlee Care Home in Campbeltown. The three pipers performed ‘Bluebells of Scotland’ and thoroughly enjoyed their visit before hurrying back to play again at their school Burns Supper! The search for the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Poster has begun!
The Fringe Schools Poster Competition is open to all Scottish students aged 5 – 16. We are looking for a unique and eye-catching poster design that represents the variety and vibrancy of the Fringe – the rest is up to you.

Road Safety Calendar Competition

The monthly assembly at Castlehill Primary included a very special presentation with regards to the Argyll & Bute Road Safety Calendar Competition. Mrs June Graham and Mrs Kay McGhee , from the Road Safety Unit, travelled to Campbeltown and gave the whole school a talk and slide show which let the children who had a winning entry see their pictures on “the big screen”.   Certificates and prizes were handed out to the lucky prize winners.
