Pencil Point – Cowal School Blog
Welcome to our exciting pupil led blog!
In November 2017 pupils from each of the 13 establishments in Cowal met together to discuss how we could share news about some of the brilliant things that are happening for pupils aged 3 to 18 across Cowal. The result is this new blog which is written entirely by pupils writing about their own schools. Many thanks to all of our pupil journalists and photographers. Well done to Macy Law from Toward Primary School, who won the competition to design the name and logo for our blog, now named “Pencil Point”. View this blog via the below link:

Dunoon Primary Vote for Clan Council
This week, the Primary 7 and Primary 6 pupils put themselves forward to be nominated for Clan Captain or Vice-Captain. This involved writing a short speech explaining why they wished to be nominated and what they will do this year to improve the school and support the children in their clans. On Thursday afternoon, we had a Clan Afternoon to carry out the vote. All of the children spoke very well and there were lots of good ideas to support the school. JLB – Our Nursery Open Day 12th October 2016.
Many parents joined us to experience the learning environment that their child enjoys at nursery. With a focus on ‘skills for life’ parents joined their children as architects and builders making a fantastic den. They could show off their cooking skills while making gingerbread men in the muddy kitchen or be a teacher, author or musician for the day while exploring natural materials to make some fantastic story stones and instruments for our music and literacy area. In the cosy shed the children enjoyed choosing stories to listen to.

Halloween Fun at Rothesay Primary
Last week everyone had a spooktacular time at Rothesay Primary. Primary 4 – 7 had a special disco arranged by the Parent Fundraising Group. There was a tuck shop, light up toys, prizes for best-dressed and best scary mover to tunes by DJ Chrissy! The secondary XL Group came along too with special sweetie boxes shaped like coffins they had made for us. Then at 8.00pm the Spooky Corridor opened for those who dared to walk along it (nearly everyone!). Thanks to all the staff and S5 and 6 pupils who were in the corridor – it was fab!

Scottish Kodu Final 2015
Primary 6/7 Election Campaign
Primary 6/7 at Rothesay Primary School have been working on a top secret challenge over the past few weeks. They have been receiving challenges and tasks from a secret organisation called MSB – Making Scotland Better. These tasks were to encourage the class to learn about elections and Scottish Parliament, to work with the local community to identify areas of Bute they wished to improve or change and to set up political parties to get these changes put in place.
