New Topic: Transport/Road Safety           Responsive Planning: Role Play area is a shop

AM boys and girls enjoyed playing in the shop, we made shopping list note pads to write down all our shopping! In drama we talked about different types of transport and pretended to move like – tractors, police cars, bikes and vans. We made play dough and used it to make cakes and bread to sell in our shop.

PM children enjoyed using fluorescent paint to make hand prints for our new Road Safety topic. We talked about wearing bright colours so we can be seen if out in the dark. We used Bee Bot to follow directions on a map – we dressed him up as a police car, ambulance, fire engine and pirate ship.

We urgently need old magazines and junk for models, thank you.

The new Newsletter is out today, lots of dates for your diary for events before Christmas. Bulletin is also out today.

Thursday 4th November

Today we spoke about being safe at a bonfire/fireworks party. Children continued to make model fireworks and to paint pictures of fireworks. In PE we further explored finding a space and different ways of moving around. The adventure Teds went home today and we are looking forward to finding out what they have been up to on Monday.

P1/2

James has been learning about collage and using this to make a background for a lighthouse picture.

In maths, Josh has been learning about adding two numbers together using his counting skills and Alfie has been learning the stories of 11, 12 and 13.

In RME Elyse has been learning about the story of Noah and Ffion has learned that the story comes from a special book called The Bible.

In assembly, Jack learned about World War One and Isla has learned about what the poppy means.

Nursery: Tuesday 3rd November

Some of the morning boys and girls were playing with plastic balls in the water tray, which led to a great discussion about what things might float and what might sink. Several different objects were brought to the water tray to try out, with a few surprising finds! This scientific exploration continued in the afternoon and so we decided we should explore more tomorrow with a wider selection of objects.

In the morning, outdoor play was spent in the glorious sunshine while afternoon outdoor play was shrouded in fog! The children loved the fact that, when they breathed out, they could see their breath and this led to their being several dragons running around outside! One lovely description of the weather was that it made everything look ‘soft’!

At group time we continued to practise our nativity songs. We are now on to song number 3!!

Monday 2nd November

What fun the children had today making models, painting and gluing firework models! AM children did some drama using Handel’s music from The Royal Fireworks – we were spinning like catherine wheels and zooming like rockets! We made sparkly playdough which we used to make flames for rockets and sparkles on fireworks. We sang our new Fireworks song – the children have all brought a copy home to have some fun with at home. The song provides great opportunities for counting to 10 and back from 10, which is something we have at the maths table just now. The nursery bulletin went home today – please have a read to see what we have planned for this week.
