We had a fantastic morning taking part in a ‘danceathon’ to raise money for Comic Relief. Both primary and secondary danced non stop for half an hour… we did the Macarena, toe tapped to Cha Cha Slide and showed off our Flossing skills! Well done to all the pupils and staff who took part.
There were lots of things happening in different classes for Scottish Week – lots of art, cooking, food tasting and music! The primary had a fantastic time at their Scottish Celebration Ceilidh and the secondary did a fabulous job of running a cafe on the Friday.
Our Literacy Week in November was very successful! We had a visit from Ron Fairweather who was a super storyteller – he had us all very engaged in his funny stories! Some classes also enjoyed some shared reading time with P7 pupils from Murrayfield. Our Leavers group lead some story sack sessions with the early years’ classes – they did a fantastic job of reading to the pupils and keeping them engaged. All the classes made a fantastic effort in the ‘decorate your door’ competition – Class 5 won the primary prize and Group 9 won the secondary prize. Thank you to our head boy and girl for judging!
Class 2 and 3 had the pleasure of visiting Bramble Cottage – a new play centre in Blackburn. The pupils had a great time; sliding down the shoot, dressing up in different costumes, using the climbing wall and role playing in the shop and kitchen. Check out our photos to see how much fun it was! We can’t wait for our next visit.
We had a fantastic visit from 2 African Drummers from “Live Music Now”. The pupils really enjoyed listening to listening to traditional African songs, watching and joining in with dancing, as well as having a go on the drums themselves!
We’ve had a great time in the playground playing with all our friends in the sun!
Last time the primary pupil council met, we had a look at what we would like to buy to play with in the playground. These are some of our ideas:
They are very expensive, and we don’t have any money, so we are going to think about how we can make some money to buy these new toys!
Sam in group 2 has written a super story this week:
The primary pupil council met this morning and were ready and raring to go after the holidays! We all have new job roles to take on:
Callum was our leader
Cameron was in charge of pouring the water
Mark kept the meeting running on time as the time keeper
Kai and Liam kept notes of our ideas from the meeting
Tyler and Harry were in charge of tidying up
Ben and Graeme were our messengers.
We found out what the plan for this term was and we wrote down ideas for how to make some money to buy new playground toys!
