Music Time with Mrs McWhirter

Good morning Primary 3, how are you feeling today?

This week was going to be Health Week at school and I hope you are having lots of exercise while you are at home, I am going for cycles and long walks. We also have to think about our emotional health and this song reminds us about paying attention to our feelings. You might remember this Fischy song, it has lots of lovely actions too so join in and enjoy it!

I have made a table to help me think about my emotions, maybe you could add some pictures to it? Let me know how you feel.

What makes you Happy?  What makes you sad?

What makes you angry? What makes you excited?

P3B Tuesday 2nd June

Hi,

I hope you all had a great first day of June. Thanks to all those who sent me an email yesterday. Some great/awful jokes about pirates. Keep up the good work.

Pizza for Pirates got me inspired to make you a map to send you on a treasure hunt. Well actually its a spelling hunt. I have written with paving chalk all your spelling words around/near the school. You have to find them! And, because pirates use maps, below is the map which will help you find them.

The black circles are all ‘ea’ words and the black crosses are ‘sp/spr’ words. There are ten of each to find or twenty words in total. Write down the ones you find. Below is a word file you could download to help you.

P3 Spelling Hunt

I wonder how many words you will   .

You’ll need to look carefully if you want to them.

Let myself and Miss Ross know how you get on.

P3A Monday 1st June

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  I really enjoyed the warm weather and being able to go for a garden visit to family.  My weekend BBQ was delicious!  I think the best bit was toasting marshmallows for pudding!

Did anyone else have a BBQ in the nice weather? Or maybe have a play in a paddling pool or water fight?

This week I’ll be online today until Thursday.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  The Week 9 grid and resources are ready for you on the website.  Plus there are new games and challenges on Sumdog and HA.  Hope you have a good week!

Pizza For Pirates

Hi Primary 3,

This week my story for you is ‘Pizza for Pirates’.

And below are the follow on activities you can do. Try to do at least two over the week.

Pizza for Pirates Reading Comprehension

  1. How did George sail around the wide ocean blue?
  2. What did George lose when he was gobbled by the whale?
  3. Which word described how he moved on the beach? And why did he do this?
  4. Why did the captain not want the pizza?
  5. What made the digging for treasure hard?
  6. Write down another joke about pirates.

Wonderful Writer George loves pirates. What do you like? Write an adventure story about a journey to meet what you love. You might meet mermaids or Steve from Minecraft or your favourite cartoon character.

Map Skills  Learn about map coordinates and have a go at the ‘Pirate Map Coordinates Worksheet’. You could also try making your own pirate map.

Book Review Print out the book review and complete (or create your own version)

Dynamic Designer Design and build a model boat that can float. It must be able to carry some pieces of eight (coins). Or you could design and make your own pizza but don’t serve it wet and soggy!

Word Wizard Find out the dictionary definition of the following words and write them in your own sentence: peered, burst, telescope, squawk, tentacle

Artistic Ace Draw a picture to represent part of the story and write at least 2 sentences to describe your drawing.

Rocking Researcher In the book George tells a joke about pirates. Can you find some more jokes about pirates? Try making a mini joke book.

Here are some files will help you complete your tasks.

P3B Monday 1st June

Good morning,

First a highlight from my past week: On Saturday we went for a long walk to Muiravonside and had a picnic. The weather fantastic and when we got home we had a barbecue. Then we watched NASA on TV to see the new rocket SpaceX Dragon launch. After that, I slept in the tent in the garden with Sofia and Charlotte. Unfortunately, my bed deflated and had to be pumped back up in the middle of the night!

Remember, I would love to hear about your highlights too.

Please, check out the school website for the P3 resources for home learning this week.

This week my story is ‘Pizza for Pirates’, which I will post about separately. Here are this week spellings.

During the week let us know how you are getting on by emailing myself and Miss Ross.

Have a great day,

Mr Brice

P3B Friday 29th May

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather, it was a little too hot for me yesterday! Please remember to wear your suncream and a hat,  it is very important.

Have you seen these wonderful chalk pictures? I really like them and think I am going to try and do one (if I can find some chalk). This could be an exciting activity for your family over the weekend. If you do one please send it to us, we would love to see them!

When we were out a walk last week someone had drawn instructions on the path similar to the ones below. It was great fun and another super idea for a family activity, especially in the nice weather.

I have enjoyed looking at everyones work this week, you have all been working so hard!

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the weather.

Miss Ross

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone has their sunglasses and hats ready for today.  I think it’s going to be another lovely day.  Maybe you could try some different activities outside today?

What about using water and paintbrushes to make fun pictures and patterns on slabs?  Or you could try shadow drawing like this example?

This evening I’m going to visit my parents in their garden.  It is so nice to hear we can now have outside visits starting today.  I hope you are able to visit your families soon.   I’m also planning to have a BBQ tomorrow with Mr Bell and our children.  Fingers crossed it stays warm and sunny!

Would love to hear your news via email too.  I miss our morning check ins and hearing about what you’re up to.   Has anyone dropped off a rainbow picture outside school?  Enjoy your weekend and I’ll be back on the blog on Monday.

3a 28.5.20 Good Morning

Good Morning , 3a.

Another glorious, sunny day for us to enjoy.

This is my last day online for a week. I’m owed a week’s holiday. I had planned to go to Arran, but we’ve all had to change our plans recently. Instead I’m going to put up a new whirly gig , walk the dogs and if we’re allowed, visit family outdoors.

Mrs Bell will be online next week and we can catch up after that.

Just for fun – the dogs can be really naughty sometimes. This drives me nuts! I’m sure Hetzer and Katie Morag think they’re helping with the dishes…

P3B Thursday 28th May

Morning everyone!

Was anyone out in the sun yesterday? We went a lovely walk to a river near our house, we had never been before. It was beautiful even though we ended up on the wrong side of the river! We walked for ages through long uneven grass and bushes trying to find somewhere to cross the river as there was a path on the other side. If  only I had worn my wellies!! We need to figure out how to get on the other side. We still had fun, here are a couple photos…

Rounding has been the focus in numeracy this week. Here is a rhyme to help you remember whether to round up or down. I have also included a link for ‘Rocket Rounding’ a game to help you practise.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/rocket-rounding

Here is a morning challenge for you all..

I have enjoyed looking at all the great work this week. Remember keep in touch!

Have a great day.

Miss Ross 😀
