P3A Friday 26th June

Good Morning 3A!

I can’t believe it’s our last day together in P3!

Today we wish Ms Occardi a very happy retirement.  Congratulations! I know she will be back in to see us again soon.  Our end of year gifts to the class are ready in school.  I’ll make sure you get these on our first day back.

Well done for all your hard work this year both before and during lockdown.  It’s not been a normal Term 4 but I have enjoyed hearing from you via email and looking at your progress online.  We finish our last piece of online learning on a high!  For the Sumdog West Lothian contest, 3A finished in 6th position overall(out of 377 classes) and a girl in our class finished 2nd position individually(out of 1961 pupils).  Amazing news!

I have been in school this week getting organised for next year.  I am very pleased to be teaching P4A next year.  I hope you are happy with this news too!

Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing all of your happy faces in August.

P3A Tuesday 23rd June

Good Morning 3A!

Very well done to you all for your efforts on Sumdog.  P3a are doing so well.  As I type this we are in 15th place in all of West Lothian!

At the end of school year, we often take time to reflect on our achievements from the year.  Today you might want to write down some things you are proud of (both in and out of school).  You could add special memories, things you enjoyed and maybe some targets for P4.  It’s been a very strange end to the term for everyone.  My highlights from our class this year are… our Egyptians assembly, hearing the class talks, teaching you all a bit of cheerleading during P.E. and playing the different drama games.

I’ll see you back on the blog on Friday for our last day.

P3A Monday 22nd June

Good Morning 3A!

I hope you all had a good weekend.  On Saturday I went with my family to Muiravonside Park.  The play area and farm are still closed but we had a nice walk and we took a picnic lunch.

The week 12 resources are ready for you on the website.  I know lots of you continue to enjoy Sumdog.  We did very well in the last contest so I have entered the P3 classes into the new West Lothian Maths Sumdog challenge. Like last time, your answers count towards your individual and class scores.  The challenge is live now until this Friday.  Good luck!

Congratulations to those who were featured in Friday’s Celebrating Success.  Also, if you placed in our P3 Sumdog challenges from last week, you’ll find your reward coins waiting for you.

Have a great day.

P3A Monday 15th June

Good Morning 3A!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I managed to get to Callendar Park with my family for a walk. It was a bit wet but we wore our wellies!  We are getting extra fence put up in the garden soon so I was painting the slats too.  Painting a fence seems to last forever!

Well done to those who joined in with the Sumdog challenges last week.  Congratulations to those who placed in the top 3- you’ll find your coin rewards waiting for you!

New challenges, HA games and your Week 11 grid are all ready for you this week.  We are focusing more on Health and Wellbeing for the last 2 weeks so the grid looks slightly different.

Today I am heading into school for the first time since we went into lockdown.  This feels a bit strange.  Please still email any news and I’ll get back to you, it just might not be until the end of the day.

Tomorrow is a holiday so I won’t be online but Ms Occardi will be back from Wednesday.

P3A Friday 12th June

Good morning 3A,

I can’t quite believe it’s Friday already!  Only a few hours left on the Sumdog challenges today.  Like last week, I’ll add extra coins for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

The new Celebrating Success will be shared later today too.  Have a look and see if your home learning has been picked this week.  There’s a great variety of work being sent to us.  Congratulations to the 3A Awesome Achievers.

Does anyone have any nice plans for the weekend?  Now we can drive a short distance, I am planning to go to Callendar Park in Falkirk.  There’s lots of outside space to enjoy a nice long walk.  I have my fingers crossed I don’t need my wellies!

Good Morning 3A!

Thanks to those that emailed yesterday.  If you are able to keep in touch once a week that’s great.

Today’s extra activity is a fun one! Mr Brice has made a spelling hunt challenge again for P3 this week.  Look at his blog post from today to find the map.  If you are out walking you could try to spot your words.  Fingers crossed the rain stays away and you can find them all!

Send a photo if you try it 🙂

P3A Monday 8th June

Good Morning 3A!

I hope you had a good weekend 🙂

Well done to those who were featured in Friday’s Celebrating Success Sway.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work this week and Ms Occardi and I will choose more Awesome Achievers.

The Week 10 grid and resources are ready for you on the LPS website.  I’ve also set new games and challenges on Heinemann Active and Sumdog.  You might find extra Sumdog coins when you next log in.  If you placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the P3 challenges from the past two weeks I’ve sent a coin reward!

Today is World Ocean Day.  This links up well with our P3 Oceans topic.  You might want to have a look at this website and watch/try some activities. https://worldoceanday.school/

I also wanted to share this competition about the Marches.  Unfortunately Marches day is not going ahead this year but there are still some fun events happening.  You might want to take part in the ‘Design your own Bunting’ competition.  It closes on Friday so you’ll need to be quick! No photo description available.

Good Morning 3A!

Here’s something you might like to try over the next week with your family.  It’s an activity to spot wildlife in your garden.  It starts today and runs for a week.  All of the information included in the link below.

Grounds 4 Nature Garden Bioblitz – step-by-step guide

I’ll give it a try and let you know next Friday what I manage to spot in my garden!

Have a good day!

P3A Wednesday 3rd June

Good Morning 3A!

It feels a bit strange to be writing a message to 3A on a Wednesday!

Hope you are having a good week.  Thanks to those who have emailed.  I know you enjoy Ms Occardi’s videos of her dogs.  I have a pet cat called Luna.  She likes to sleep a lot so I don’t have a funny video to share!  Here’s a photo of her instead.

Image preview

We adopted Luna from a rescue centre 5 years ago and we think she is now about 6 years old.  She likes being patted on her head but doesn’t enjoy sitting on my lap.  She tries to chase birds outside so we’ve put a bell on her collar so she can’t sneak up on them! Her favourite cat treats are Dreamies.  Would love to  hear about and see your pet pictures too.

Good Morning 3A!

Another sunny day yesterday.  Hope you all enjoyed it!  Looking forward to hearing about what you’ve been getting up to.

Here’s another activity you could try with your family this week.  Can be done indoors or outdoors!  Get practising your adding! You could use any combination of numbers.  Throw balls or rolled up socks.  Please send a photo if you try it!

P3A Monday 1st June

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  I really enjoyed the warm weather and being able to go for a garden visit to family.  My weekend BBQ was delicious!  I think the best bit was toasting marshmallows for pudding!

Did anyone else have a BBQ in the nice weather? Or maybe have a play in a paddling pool or water fight?

This week I’ll be online today until Thursday.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  The Week 9 grid and resources are ready for you on the website.  Plus there are new games and challenges on Sumdog and HA.  Hope you have a good week!

P3A Friday 29th May

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone has their sunglasses and hats ready for today.  I think it’s going to be another lovely day.  Maybe you could try some different activities outside today?

What about using water and paintbrushes to make fun pictures and patterns on slabs?  Or you could try shadow drawing like this example?

Try This Shadow Drawing Project With Your Kids - Simplemost

This evening I’m going to visit my parents in their garden.  It is so nice to hear we can now have outside visits starting today.  I hope you are able to visit your families soon.   I’m also planning to have a BBQ tomorrow with Mr Bell and our children.  Fingers crossed it stays warm and sunny!

Would love to hear your news via email too.  I miss our morning check ins and hearing about what you’re up to.   Has anyone dropped off a rainbow picture outside school?  Enjoy your weekend and I’ll be back on the blog on Monday.

P3A Tuesday 26th May

Good Morning 3A,

Hello everyone.  Thanks to those who emailed photographs of their work yesterday.  It’s so nice to see what you have been working on at home.  Someone tried out the origami fish activity from last week.  Aren’t these great!

Here’s another ocean themed activity you could try. Make an ocean in a bottle…https://www.leapfrog.com/en-us/learning-path/activities/activity-create-an-ocean

P3A Monday 25th May

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and managed some fun activities despite the horrible weather.  I built a den in the living room with my children!  We moved around the furniture and used a coat stand and blankets to make a big tent.  It was great fun.

I wanted to give a huge congratulations to everyone who joined in with the WL Sumdog challenge.  Also there were 2 children in 3A who finished in the top 50 places.  What an amazing achievement 🙂

As always, you’ll find new games and challenges have been set for you on Heinemann Active and Sumdog.  I hope you are able to give these a go.  The P3 Week 8 grid and resources are ready on LPS website too.

Another pupil recommendation for Oxford Owl has been emailed to me. You might like Project X Big Game Adventure or The Hunt for Nok.

If you are able to email again this week that would be great.  If you can send a photo too, even better.  You work might be featured in Friday’s Celebrating Success.

P3A Tuesday 19th May

Good Morning 3A!

Well done to everyone who has completed questions on Sumdog Maths this week.  As I am writing this blog post, 3A are in 15th place in the West Lothian Contest!  There are still a few days to go so let’s keep working hard.

I asked last week if anyone had recommendations of books on Oxford Owl.  So far pupils in our class have enjoyed the Project X Hero Academy(Ice Crystal Robbery and False Alarms) and White Fang.  If you’ve read something great then please let me know and I can tell the class.

You all know I enjoy crafts! Here’s a fun craft activity you could try out today if you have any free time…Origami-Fish

Here’s mine!
