Story Time From Home – Friday 26th June

Hello everyone,

Here is the link to the last Story Time from Home.

https://vimeo.com/432653558

Thank you for watching the Story Time From Home videos which I originally was going to make just for my own class  but thought it would be nice to share with all the P1-3 children.

I know that lots  of you have heard me read these stories before so it has been lovely to hear that you have still been watching the videos.  Thank you for all your kind messages – it has been so nice to hear from you and know that you are doing well.

Please enjoy your summer holidays and take care to stay safe. I look forward to seeing you all safely back in school soon.

P2/1 – Thursday 25th June

Hello everyone

I do hope that you are enjoying the lovely weather and that it stays with us.

Below is a link to a short video and some advice from CBeebies about staying safe in the sun that you might want to look at.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/sun-safety-for-kids

Here is also a link to an animated story about George The Sun Safe Superstar which you could watch too.  It only lasts about 5 minutes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7ghJsZug60

Today is the second last Story Time from Home.  You won’t be surprised that I have chosen a story about a naughty cat for today!

https://vimeo.com/432275263

My naughty cats aren’t in the video – they are outside enjoying the nice weather too!

I hope you all have a great day and if you are going outside – remember your hat and your sunscreen!

P2/1 – Monday 22nd June

Hello P2/1

I hope that you are all well and had a nice weekend.

This is  our last week of home learning before the summer holidays and I am very proud of how well you have all been doing.

Here is the link to Monday’s Story Time From Home.  There is no special theme this week as there is no writing activity.  I have chosen all the stories just because I like them and I hope you will like them too. Remember, if you missed any of last week’s stories you can still go back and watch them.

https://vimeo.com/431273818

It has been good fun making the videos but it not the same as reading stories in class and this is one of the main things I am looking forward to about going back to school – after seeing and chatting to all the boys and girls again!

Please do stay in touch this week before the holidays begin and let me know how you are getting on.

Miss McDermott

Good morning Primary 1, Friday 12th June

Good morning primary one. I hope you have had a good week. Again I want you to know how impressed and proud I am at all the activities you have been doing this week. You have been working so hard and have been so creative.

I was talking to my friend in France yesterday. I was lovely chatting to her and seeing her on the video chat. I wonder if any of you have done that with friends or family?

Can you remember how they say hello in France? Here is a little song and dance about saying hello in different ways. Can you work out what countries the different hello’s are from?

I hope you have a lovely weekend when it comes and fingers crossed the sunshine comes out to say hello.

Take care, stay safe.

P3B Friday 12th June

Good morning everyone, I can’t believe there are only two weeks left of school! I hope you have had a great week. Thank you to everyone that sent work this week, I have really enjoyed looking at it!

What are you doing this weekend?  I don’t have much planed, will probably go a nice walk somewhere with Elliot and my mum. Hopefully it stays dry!

I know everyone loved mindfulness colouring in class. I love colouring in too, it’s very relaxing. Here are some under the sea colouring pictures.

Under the sea colouring

Why not try this fun game! Let someone draw a picture on your back, think about what you can feel and try to draw the same picture! I might try it at the weekend too. Here is an example…

Here is a morning challenge for you all. How many words can you make? Each word must include the letter in the middle. Can you find the 9 letter word?

Have a great weekend!

Miss Ross 🙂

Good afternoon primary1, Thursday 11th June

I hope you are having a good week. I have loved seeing the photos you have been sending in, keep up all the fantastic activities you have been doing. They look great!

A lot of fairy tales have an element of magic in them and although we can’t cast spells like them , we can become scientists. Some experiments that scientists do are so clever and quite magical!

Here are a few experiments you can try at home with a grown up.

Can you try to make a stick man dance?

There are lots more on here.

Please let us know if you do any. We would love to see how you budding scientists get on!

Have a lovely afternoon.

Good morning Primary 1, Thursday 4th 2020

Good Morning Primary 1, I hope you are all well and have had a good week so far.

Although the sunshine has taken a little break from shining, it doesn’t mean we can’t keep moving and stay active. What things do you like to do each day to keep your body moving? Are you still going on a daily walk? There a re so many beautiful places to walk in Linlithgow, I’d love to know where your favourite place to walk are.

Are you a healthy challenger?

I have put together a challenge grid of different activities for you to do.  There is a mixture of different things for you to try. Keep a little record of the challenges and tick them off as you go and if you can, take photos or videos and share them with us. When you complete activities you can colour the challenge log or make your own way to record what you have done. (Please remember that you don’t need to print the sheets off. Have fun making your own log sheet.)

How are you getting on with eating a rainbow? We’d love to hear or see what you have been trying.

Fairy tales

I’ve put together a little guessing game. How well do you know your fairy tales?

Welcome to Fairy tale Way. Can you guess who lives in each house?

Have a look at the clues on each house to help you guess. I will let you know on Friday morning who lives in the house and see how many you guessed correctly. (This might remind some adults of Through the keyhole “Who lives in a house like this?”)

Can you create your own Fairy tale way. What would the different characters houses look like? Maybe you could get someone to guess who lives in each house. You could even send it to us to guess.

Have a lovely day primary one. Please keep in touch and send an email or comment if you have any questions.

Take care.

Good Morning Primary 1- 2.6.2020

I love the story of the Snow Queen.  It tells a story of a little girl who missed her friend as she had not seen him for a long time.

There are different ways to listen to stories. Below is a link to a podcast. You have to listen and use your imagination.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/the-snow-queen

Now here is a bit of the story. This doesn’t tell the whole story but does show you how to get an app that is full of bedtime stories. Families at home may find this useful.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/storytime-the-snow-queen

Lastly, here is a show all about the Snow Queen. This is a different way to see and listen to a story.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/cbeebies-the-snow-queen

Once you have enjoyed all these I would like you to think about all the friends from your class that I am sure you are missing at the moment. Maybe you could make a rainbow picture with all their names on and drop it off at school. Not only will this make our school colourful but your friends will see that you are thinking of them. If you can’t manage this draw a picture and send it to your teacher, through e-mail, and we can pass it onto them. We are all missing our friends but just like Gerda, we will see them again soon.

Have a lovely day in the sunshine and stay safe Primary 1.

P3B Thursday 28th May

Morning everyone!

Was anyone out in the sun yesterday? We went a lovely walk to a river near our house, we had never been before. It was beautiful even though we ended up on the wrong side of the river! We walked for ages through long uneven grass and bushes trying to find somewhere to cross the river as there was a path on the other side. If  only I had worn my wellies!! We need to figure out how to get on the other side. We still had fun, here are a couple photos…

Rounding has been the focus in numeracy this week. Here is a rhyme to help you remember whether to round up or down. I have also included a link for ‘Rocket Rounding’ a game to help you practise.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/rocket-rounding

Here is a morning challenge for you all..

I have enjoyed looking at all the great work this week. Remember keep in touch!

Have a great day.

Miss Ross 😀

P3B Thursday 21st May

Good morning everyone! I Hope you all enjoyed the sunshine yesterday.

The ‘Draw with Rob’ art work you have been sending is fantastic, you inspired me to try it myself. This is my superhero teddy.

The link for ‘Draw with Rob’ is below if you haven’t done one yet or want to try a different one.

Here is a short video about the different creatures that live deep in the ocean. You will hear the man in the video mention the Photic zone, this is another name for the Sunlight zone. Have a look at these amazing creatures, like I said yesterday some of them are a little strange looking.

Have a great day!

Miss Ross 😀

Story Time From Home – Monday 18th May

Hello everyone and welcome back after the weekend!

Last week I created an online quiz for P2/1 to try all about Scotland.  It seemed to work really well so this week I have made one for everyone who enjoys the Story Time videos.  The quiz is all about bears which you can play online by clicking the link below.

https://create.kahoot.it/share/p1-p2-p3-bears-quiz/3bbcd367-1844-478f-9593-f62d157cac6c

You do not need to download an app or to login but you can put your name or initials in.  It is a multiple choice quiz and it is very easy to play on a mobile phone. Please let me know how you get on and what you think!

This week’s story theme is robots and here are the robots that were made by the children in my street that you will see in the video this week .  Aren’t they fantastic?

And of course here is the link to today’s story which I hope you enjoy!

Happy Friday 15.5.2020

Happy Friday Everyone,

Another week has gone by and I have had loads of fantastic messages and pictures that make me smile. Please continue to keep in touch weekly- even if it is just to say hello and that you are safe.

I am hoping to go for a bike ride and some walks with my family over the weekend so hopefully the sun keeps shining.  Have fun and stay safe.

Story Time From Home – Friday 15th May

Hello everyone

Here is the link to Friday’s Story Time From Home.

https://vimeo.com/418533006

As well as a bear, it includes some pesky rabbits too.  I hope none of you are being pesky! Mind you, it is nearly the weekend so you can have some time off from home learning and hopefully do something nice with your families.

Best wishes and thank you again for watching all the videos and sending me your kind messages.
