P6/5 Daily Plan

Hello again! I have been encouraging you to work more independently recently, and that will have to be the case this week as I will be in school supporting the children there.

Reading: I will read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. The follow up activity is the role of Questioner from Literacy Circles. We will ask each other questions about the books we are reading. You have additional role of Illustrator for this week. Please try to do both. Again just use the sheet as support but write the work into your jotters. Read the 4 slides from the PowerPoint “Wonder Questions2” and answer them. You can use this to inspire your own questions.

Maths: Please try to download both the whole TeeJay, so we can have a look at what we have learned so far, and plan our next steps

LI To use families of numbers. Look at the TJ 2a page 70 and 71. You should have already done the addition, subtraction and multiplication from these pages Today create families of numbers from this previous work. See separate maths sheets for examples.

Maths Challenge: https://www.cdmasterworks.co.uk/the-daily-rigour/

Spelling: I have up-loaded (into this file: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Spelling) the overviews for P5 and P6, as well as P4 and P2, which you can use for additional support. There is also the Fry’s list of common words. I have also up-loaded a list of spelling activities. Today please select activities to suit yourself.

Science

Scottish SPCA Adventure Tails Activity Packs

Filled with approx. 20 pages of activities linked to all areas of the curriculum to ensure we are encouraging skills in numeracy, literacy, relate to science, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, languages, RME, social studies and technology. These can be accessed at home by the pupils and are, as always, free

They can be found on the link below:

https://www.scottishspca.org/our-work/animal-wise/animal-wise-for-primary

Children will be able to demonstrate they have completed each page of the booklet through solving clues as they go along in the form of anagrams. They can only get the letters for their anagram by sourcing the answers relating to each activity (one activity per curriculum area per page based on a specific topic). At the end of the book there will be a page to record all the anagrams and solve our Inspectors mystery.

P6/5 Daily Plan

Hello again!

On Monday’s daily plan I left out the “nagging” paragraph. Unfortunately on Monday afternoon Teams was not being used appropriately. So: Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, for example use the thumbs up “Like” emoji rather than post “OK”. This will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting. Another plea: make sure you read this document and the timetable as it has a lot of answers to the questions you are asking. You should not need to ask each what you should do as it is all written here.

If you have done everything else do Education City and spelling.

P6/5 Daily Plan

Fun Friday! Today will have a slightly different style as I want you to start working more independently. I will do a check from 9, but you then have to work on the below tasks independently and we will get back together for another check in at 12.

Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before.

I will try to keep Teams as simple as possible for you all by only uploading what you need for each day into the “General” folder in “Files”. I have added some more activities for you to “Education City Homework”. There are loads of other really interesting activities in their as well. The other website I love is the BBC: check this out and show your parents / carers

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvryp4j

Maths: Problem Solving: Money. Chili questions: you can choose how “spicy” (difficult) the questions are. Please choose carefully the pages most appropriate for yourself: as I have said I want you to work independently on these

TJay 2a page 69

TJay 1b page 75

TJay 1b page 75 (but not necessarily all of question 4)

The TJay Books can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy. I have also up-loaded the individual pages.

For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:
