Superheroes hard at work in P1F

This week the children have been having lots of super fun!

The children have been learning the number 9 this week. We have been practising our number formation on the Interactive Whiteboard and on our whiteboards. The children know that numbers are represented lots of different ways; we have been writing the number and the same number of dots on our whiteboards. The children found this activity lots of fun.

This week, we have been working super hard at our reading and writing. Not only did we learn two more sounds ‘g’ and ‘o’, we also have got books with words in them! The children were very excited about reading their books as well as answering questions and drawing their favourite part. We have be building 2 and 3 letter words on our magnetic board and writing our words using coloured pencils. Miss Farley is very impressed at their writing of their letters.

All the children in P1F have now created their own superhero identity! We have own superhero names using alliteration and designed our own superhero masks.  Our superhero Head Quarters is up and running and we are ready to help!

It has been a superhero filled week and we have another one coming up next week! Look out for our new adventures in the next blog.

Buoyancy and Density

P7F have been experimenting with Buoyancy and Density as part of their science project. We have experimented with how a solid object could be made to float on water by manipulating some Plasticine.

We have experimented with how the density of water will change the ability of an object (an egg) to float by adding salt to it.

Finally, we experimented with the density of different liquids. We predicted whether honey, fairy liquid and oil would float or sink on water then tested our hypotheses.

Dr Seuss Day!

P5C enjoyed our Dr Seuss day on Friday. This was to finish off our Topic. We had lots of fun during our Topic and we looked at the following books by Dr Seuss: The Cat in the Hat; Oh, The Places You’ll Go! and The Lorax. Our Topic covered a diverse range of subjects (Health & Wellbeing; Geography; The Environment; PSD; as well as a huge range of literacy).

Most of us dressed up as Dr Seuss characters and we took part in lots of activities.

Dr Seuss Day

Primary 4/5K ended their topic by having a Dr Seuss Day. Everyone in the class was invited to dress up in a Dr Seuss costume related to the 3 books we had focussed our learning on; Cat in the Hat, Oh the Places You’ll Go! and The Lorax.  In the morning each child in the class invited along one person, from within the school, to share their learning with and to take part in Dr Seuss activities. In the afternoon we had a celebration playing Dr Seuss games, eating party food and watching animated versions of the books we had read. A fun day was had by all.

Allowing our children to develop personally, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
