For our science experiment today, we used our prior knowledge to choose 10 things around the classroom to see if they would float or sink. We predicted our results then started with the things we thought would float, then the items that we believed would sink. We learned that different materials affect floating and sinking.
All P6 children started learning different ball skills from the St Modan’s Sports Leaders. Along with this, the pupils concentrated on team work. We are looking forward to learning more this week.
This week, P6M were introduced to their Term 3 topic, The Titanic. We will be going back in time to 1912 to discover what life was like then. We will be learning about the Titanic tragedy and the different people that were on board the tragic ship including Kaspar, Prince of Cats which we will be reading as our novel study by Michael Morpurgo.
Today we had some very special visitors, a wide range of owl species as seen on Harry Potter. We were learning all about these wonderful animals and why J.K Rowling chose these majestic creatures to feature in her books.
We’ve had lots more lessons over the past 2 weeks in P6M. Ellis and Elle provided us with a fantastic insight into a potions lesson as we learned how to mix different solids and liquids together to create a delicious edible body scrub!
A massive well done to Ava, Hugh and Lara for their extremely delicious lesson on creating a ‘Golden Snitch.’
Millie, your lesson on mixing potions was amazing!!! We still don’t know how adding different solids and liquids managed to change the colour of the solutions!! It must be magic!
And finally, Callum, Carmen and Cameron thank you for teaching us how to create magical pencil brooms. We loved the competitions to see how far our brooms flew.
Yesterday, we were learning to create our own Harry Potter themed Halloween treats. It was important for us to follow the correct hygiene procedures before, during and after our designs. The attention to detail was fantastic in all the designs and it was very hard to choose P6M Bakers.
Our top 3 bakers crowned were Nieve, Luke and Lara.
One of our topic tasks is to prepare a Harry Potter themed lesson to give to the class. Providing a lesson to the class is a huge responsibility, the lessons must be fully prepared, engaging and show excellent talking and listening skills. The lessons are now in full swing, thanks to Findlay, Rebecca, Teagan and Ruaraidh – we have made Howlers, Wands and Marauders Maps.
The Primary 6 children enjoyed their very first transition visit to St Modan’s today. One group had PE, playing different instructional games. The other group were in French, learning about the pronunciation of French colours.
