We have been having lots of fun in Room 8. Below are some of the things we have been up to this year!

September

Sponsored Event

This week we have been taking part in our sponsored event and showing our support for Colin, our school janitor, who is walking The West Highland Way to raise funds for our school. To show our support, we made flags to send to him. As part of our sponsored event, we have been doing laps of our playground as a school, to match the amount of miles Colin is walking!

Recycling Week

This week Room 8 have been celebrating Recycling Week and looking at lots of different ways to protect our environment. We have been completing a range of activities such as: litter picking, sorting recycling materials and making litter collages.

October

In the first week of October, we have been celebrating Space Week. We have been learning all about spce, the planets and how important it is to us in daily life. We have made telescopes, our own solar system, our own constellations and so much more!

Halloween

Room 8 have been having lots of Spooktacular fun this week in class. From an exciting Halloween hunt during Forest School to crafting our own pumpkin sensory bags, using paint, water and pumpkin seeds. We even managed to squeeze in some Halloween themed numeracy and literacy tasks. Room 8 have also been creative with some Halloween art including creating splat monsters and wrapped up mummies. It’s been a great week of Halloween fun!

Spooktacular/ Community Walk

November

Bonfire Night

Room 8 has been exploring Bonfire Night through all our senses this week! The children used a variety of creative techniques to produce colourful, eye-catching artwork of fireworks and bonfires. We also spent time looking at and listening to firework recordings on the C-Touch, describing the sights and sounds together, in a variety of ways.

Remember Day

Room 8 have been learning about Remembrance Day, in particular the importance of poppies. We listened to a poppy story and then made our own poppies. We were all given the option of different sized poppies to paint and these will be displayed outside our classroom.

December

We have had a very busy start to December with all things Christmas!

Christmas Jumpers

To celebrate Christmas jumper day, we designed our own Christmas jumpers! We looked at some inspiration on the C-touch before doing our own. We each selected our favourite then sat as a class to complete the task!

Fireplace C-Touch

We put a video of a lovely, warm fire on the C-Touch. We used our different sense to describe the fire and used words such as: warm, crackling and bright!

Community Walk

To kick off the Christmas celebrations within the school, Room 8 participated in a Community Walk with the whole school. We decided to brave a slightly longer route than our usual walk and loved seeing the Christmas lights with our classmates.

Busy Books

As we move into a new month, Room 8 have been looking forward to starting our new busy books tasks. To kick off the new month, we began by colouring our December cover for our books. Afterwards we explored each page and looked at the activities for the month.
