P5/6 made books for P2/3

Primary 5/6 really enjoyed making books for their P2/3 partners especially to help celebrate World Book Day.

Having researched their partner’s interests and the type of reading they enjoy the P5/6 pupils went on to write and illustrate a book for their partner.

This afternoon the two classes met and the older children presented the book to their partner and they read it together.

The younger children really appreciated the books specially made for them and the P5/6 pupils thoroughly enjoyed reading them to their partners.

World Book Day

We are celebrating World Book Day a day early at Dunrossness!

In assembly we spoke about why we celebrate World Book Day and how important reading is!

We have also launched our Readathon for March.  We are not fundraising this year – we are just coming off our reading schemes and encouraging the children to read for enjoyment and take part in some reading dares to broaden their reading experiences.
