Weekly Update: 2nd-6th March

  • World Book Day
    • As part of World Book Day staff across the school were promoting and celebrating the gift of reading with our students.   Staff shared the books they are currently reading and the reason why they read.    There are also a series of competitions running for staff & students as part of this years World Book Day.
      • Top 10 Benefits of Reading
        1. Keeps brain active
        2. Reduce stress levels
        3. Increase knowledge
        4. Expand vocabulary
        5. Improve memory
        6. Stronger thinking skills
        7. Improve focus & concentration
        8. Improve writing skills

  • S1 Focus Group
    • Half of our wonderful S1 focus group took part in an Escape Room activity to develop their problem solving skills and showcase their excellent teamwork and communication skills to beat the escape room. Teams had 45 minutes to compete the task and the winning team managed to complete the task in 43 minutes.
  • Construction & Engineering Apprenticeship Event
    • 40 students in S4-S6 attended a Construction and Engineering Apprenticeship event  at the Hamilton International Technology Park. It was a very beneficial & worthwhile experience for these students who are looking at gaining apprenticeships in these areas when they leave school.
  • Personal Development Staff Lunch
    • A BIG thank you to our S5/6 Personal Development group for organising a very successful staff lunch on Monday.  Thank you to all the staff who turned up to taste their culinary delights.
  • Sports Leadership Academy
    • Another fantastic night at the Active Schools Sports Leadership Academy.  This week students were going through Disability Awareness Training.    Students are now ready for their Primary placements.
