Interdisciplinary Learning – Maths, Art  and Literacy

P2 had fun identifying  shapes, listening to and following instructions to help them make a Christmas Santa.  They used  different  shapes and range of media with  festive colours.               Love your Christmas Shape Santa’s Primary 2.

Our ‘Jesse’ Tree

P2 Also worked with shape during R.E. to make symbols on different shapes for their ‘Jesse’ Tree.  These symbols represent stories from the bible, from Creation to the birth of Jesus.

Nativity. – Holy Joe

This year p1, 2 and 3 were absolutely wonderful in their Holy Joe Nativity. Everyone worked so hard and they should be so proud of themselves. P2 particularly enjoyed playing their part as Narrators this year and being part of the Choir.

Christmas Craft Fun

The children have really enjoyed learning about Christmas and  have also enjoyed learning about crafts and how to make different  decorations to help celebrate this time of year.

Christmas Party Time!

Here they are again having a lovely time at their Christmas party, enjoying all the traditional games and dances they have been learning over the past few weeks.

Rookie Rockstars Christmas Return

We had great fun when Rookie Rockstars returned for a Christmas visit and had us all singing and dancing again while we learned how to treat others with kindness by being caring.  We learned a new Santa dance too!

Advent Service and End of Term

After a beautiful Advent service on Thursday, you are all due a lovely restful holiday over Christmas boys and girls. Have a great time. Mrs Stevenson and I will be thinking of you over the holidays and will look forward to seeing you in 2018. God bless and happy Christmas.

Today our Primary 6/7 children went across to Mossend Primary to read to the nursery and Primary 1 children.  Primary 6/7 children from Mossend came across to our school and read to  P1-3.  This was a really enjoyable experience for all the children.

Nativity Play Rehearsals – (Holy Joe)

P2 along with P1/2 and P3 are working very hard as the learn their lines and practice their songs and carols for this years Nativity performance.  They are all very proud of themselves as they do their very best, focus and work hard to they prepare for their  performances.   Great work P2, P1/2 and P3.

Remembrance Day

As the children learned about Remembrance Day they also wanted to make a poppy wreath of remembrance  for our class alter so that we can keep all the fallen soldiers in our prayer particularily during this special month of November.

Numeracy, Christmas Fayre and Enterprise

As P2 Looked forward to the Christmas Fayre and making and measuring out their quantities of Reindeer Dust to sell,  the children discussed what else they could measure and how this could be done.  They started with height and decided they would like to know who was the smallest and tallest in the class.

As the children made their  Reindeer Dust to sell, they decided they would like to raise more money and went on to make ‘ Santa Sweetie Surprise bags’. Here are some pictures of how they went about this.

While the children  prepared to sell their goods, we  discussed the quantity they felt they should make, how much this would cost  and how much  money could be made from their sale.

National Book Week

The children have enjoyed this very much.  They have brought in some of their own favourite books to share with the class and have had a special opportunity to have books read to them .  In particular the would like to thank the Head Teacher from Mossend Primary who came over to Holy Family to read to them and the children enjoyed this very much indeed .  The children also loved their’ Read, Write and Count’ Backpacks with lots of books and goodies inside and couldn’t wait to take them home to show their families.

Writing – Cinema Visit to see  Boss Baby            Thursday 17.11.17

Last Thursday the children had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Cinema to see Boss Baby.  The had a terrific  time and used this experience as a opportunity to write a recount of their visit, using Core targets, joining words and paragraphs.

P2 Writing – For Remembrance Day                             Friday 9.11.17

As we approached  Remembrance Day P2 wrote instructions  to make a Poppy Wreath.  They included the resources you would need,  discussed and identified common nouns, and used core targets to become successful learners and this weeks star writers.
