On Wednesday 2nd March we had a visit from Miss Docherty’s sister who is a teacher at Golfhill Primary. She is also called Miss Docherty and we thought that this was going to be really strange, but it wasn’t.
Miss Docherty brought a lesson for us to do on the smartboard. We had to match up the four layers of the rainforest and use the rubber to reveal the answer. The easiest layer to remember is the emergent layer because it has the tallest trees and it also has the sky in it. We enjoyed doing this task.
After this Miss Docherty talked to us about the different layers and then we did an annotated rainforest diagram, showing each of the layers with a description of each layer beside it.
Primary 6 at Golfhill Primary learned about the rainforest last term and raised money to sponsor 5 endangered animals. Miss Docherty brought the mascots along for our class to meet.
We also had a chance to look at some of the Primary 6 personal projects and we thought that they were fantastic.
We would like to say thankyou to Miss Docherty and hope that she will come back and visit us soon.

Primary 5 are carrying out personal projects at the moment. The theme of their personal research project is ‘The Rainforest’. The children have to decide which area of the rainforest they will concentrate on for their personal project.
Some of the children have already made a start on putting their personal projects together and many have decided to make models to accompany their projects.
The projects are due to be handed in on 17th March and should be accompanied by a personal talk whereby they will present their personal project to the rest of the class.
I am really looking forward to reading all of the projects and I am impressed with the efforts the children have already been putting in to them so far.
A message for Primary 5
If you have any good websites to recommend to the other children in the class in addition to those posted on the personal project wiki, either create a post here, add a comment to this post or post them on our personal project wiki.
Hi Primary 5
We are very lucky to be taking part in a performance with the Scottish Opera on Thursday 10th March. Please remember to bring your PE kit ( shorts, T.Shirt and gym shoes). You will need these as you will have a costume provided by the Scottish Opera to wear over these. If you do not have gym shoes in class already, then please remember to bring a pair in before Thursday 10th March.
I am really excited about it. I think you will be amazing.
On the 10th of March primary 5 -7 will be doing Scottish opera in the school hall . The man who
helps us do it is really good, his name is Roger . We are really excited about it .We think Roger is really funny. We are really good at the first song. In the 5th song we split up into 4 groups. We like our groups. Our groups are runners, swimmers, hammer throwers and tug of war.
Paddy  was yesterday’s class student,  he came from Germany .It was one of the girls in our class who brought him in. Paddy  has a belly  button. Yesterday the fire bell went and we left paddy in the class room but it was a test so he was alright .We are  glad because he is very expensive .It was our friends dad who got her  it. The make of the bear is Steiff.  It is extremely cute . He is gold and brown, he has a short, puffy tail and he wears clothes to impress.
When you are chosen to bring in a student you have to introduce them to the class. All of the other boys and girls in the class have to listen really well because the teacher asks them to answer questions about what you have told them in your introduction.
When it is time for maths, the person who brought the student in has to explain to their student what they are learning that day. They also have to do this for all of the other things that we are doing in class.
At the end of the day, the person who brought the student in has to talk about all of the things that the student has learned that day.
I have noticed that some of you have been joining in the World Maths Day games at home, Well done!! 😀
I have also been joining in and I have been playing against other teachers all over the world. Some of the countries are Bulgaria, Australia, United States, Ireland, India and Guatemala.
I find that I am getting faster at answering the questions because I have played a few games.
What countries have you been playing against?
How have you found the different levels of difficulty?
Level five for the teachers is very challenging!!!
