Spelling rule: doubled final consonant

One Syllable words eg. hop need the final consonant to be doubled before adding endings that start with a vowel.

eg hop + p + ing=hopping

hop+ p + ed = hopped

shop, drop, bob, skip, trip, get, tan work in the same way.

Watch out for hope, it drops the e but doesn’t double the consonant. hoping.
