It is everyone’s responsibility to protect children and make sure they are okay. All children have the right to grow up in a caring and safe environment and all adults have a responsibility to protect children, this includes:
- Family members
- Members of the public
- Community groups
To support this at Kilmacolm nursery, we have a duty to report any concerns we have in relation to child protection. We would also appreciate it if you could phone or speak to us and let us know if your child is going to be absent from nursery for any reason on 01475 715831. If your child is absent from nursery, and we have not been made aware of this, we will give you a call by 10am or within an hour of your child’s nursery start time.
1140 Hours Expansion at Kilmacolm Nursery Class
The Scottish Government has set out plans to increase the number of funded early learning and childcare hours children across the country can access. By August 2020, 1140 hours will be available in all Early Learning and Childcare establishments within Inverclyde Council.
At Kilmacolm Nursery Class we have already begun the delivery of 1140 hours. We have the following placement patterns available. Please note that there are a limited amount of spaces allocated to each model, and that the times will change slightly in August 2020.
If you are interested in applying for a place, or need more information. Please phone the nursery on 01475 715831 or come in and see us.
Parents can make a voluntary contribution of £2.00 per week. This allows us to purchase additional resources to support children’s learning and development, such as baking ingredients. These costs are not met by the local authority so we do rely on the generosity of parents. These contributions are voluntary. During the year we may have additional fundraising events which we hope you will support. You will be kept up to date through our newsletter and notice board.
Our nursery class aims to engender positive attitudes towards healthy eating together with providing opportunities for physical activity which contributes to becoming a “health promoting establishment.” Each day we provide a snack for children which consists of milk or water and fruit or vegetables. Any specific dietary requirements are adhered to.
Parents in the Nursery:
Parents / Carers are always welcome to come into the nursery class and join in learning experiences with staff and children. We offer stay and play sessions every day. Please add your name to the form in the cloakroom.
Parents are also welcome to come into the nursery when collecting their child at the end of each session…..what better way to see your child enjoying their time in the nursery.
Nursery Sweatshirts and Polo shirts are available to buy – see school office for details. These save good clothes from being ruined by messy experiences and outdoor messy/mud play. Children should change into sandshoes when they come into the nursery.
Please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather as we frequently go outdoors regardless of the weather!
Finally, please make sure shoes, coats, sweatshirts etc. have child’s name on them as items of clothing can easily get mixed up.
